I think its because sattelites are supposed to transmit internet connection, but he's saying that the cables do it instead.

It seems to me that taking your satellite dish off and seeing if you can still get National Geographic would be a good way to test that theory.

I interpreted the opposite. I thought he meant that there is no way you can have all these connections without satellites. The man's English is so weird, he is an enigma.
