I'll update as more embargos are lifted.

Damn RDR2 is still going to take over a minute to load? I just got back into that too.

i can't tell if i'm reading bait or if these times are truly that long even with their SSDs (and ps5's magic ssd)

because this doesn't sound right.

These BC games aren’t dependent on the SSD’s.

Sony is booting Miles Morales in at 3-4 seconds. Much more demanding but fully utilizing the SSD.

i mean... those times looked nearly identical to the ps4/etc times from a hdd.

so if they're running from an external hdd, sure. but if the game's installed on the new consoles' ssd... this looks wonky as hell.

i mean, unless they're emulating the loading time for the lulz/trololol

Interesting that the XSX generally loads faster. PS5's SSD is supposed to be custom built, and the bee's knees compared to XSX's.

What are they dependent on, if not the storage device for loading?

It would make sense for the truly next-gen games to be more optimized for newer hardware, though.

Terrible comparisons.

The only relevant one is the boot times and resume from standby times.

If it was just reliant on the speed of the drive then these would be loading in an instant so clearly that’s not the case.

I don’t know how they’re driving these games when it comes to BC.

Obviously the whole package (CPU/RAM/etc.) is very important, but regardless of optimization/etc. it would seem like the SSD is the most vital part for loading, backwards compatibility/emulated games and newer games included. My PS3 emulator loads games much faster than an actual PS3.

I could be wrong, though. Just seems like from personal experience, the SSD makes the difference.

It most definitely should be the biggest factor but with these relatively slow numbers that can’t be the case.

I’d like to see a breakdown of how this is working.

Not surprised about the load times. I don't expect to see anything from Sonys SSD until we get games specifically made for the PS5.

Gonna hold off for a few months in case of
