Considering buying an NVIDIA Shield Tablet...... how could I play emulators?

Been watching for a US release date everyday since the Xperia Z3 line was announced a few weeks back and it looks like Sony is having an event on the 9th, so hopefully we'll get a launch date. The article made it seem like it may be a launch event so that would be cool.

Sony Corp’s (ADR) (SNE) flagship smartphone, Xperia Z3, is finally coming to the US after making its way around the globe. Sony's Mobile division has sent out invites for an event scheduled October 9 in New York, where the company is expected to formally launch the smartphone.

Can't wait to try the Z3 Tablet Compact out with PS4 remote play. Already use it on the Vita, and while doable it has it's flaws. Already used to the small Vita display(5"?), so looking forward to the bigger 8" display and full DS4 functionality. Was planning on picking up around Christmas, but don't think I'll be able to wait it out. Just hoping it's priced competitivly and not super outragous.

Alot of people seem to be buying these for emulators:

It looks kind of cheaply made but there are some good reviews around on it. Heres a vid of someone playing some emulators on it:

Looks like a cheap Chinese alternative. Cool idea, but in my experience, you tend to get what you pay for with these things. It sports a Rockchip which is a cheap Chinese knock-off ARM manufacturer. It has virtually no presence in the Android world, so no devs are going out of their way to support it. Android 5.0 "Lollipop" is going to hit at least as soon as October 24th when the Nexus 9 is released, and this thing is still natively running Android 4.2 Jellybean.

I can't even find a GFX score of any of the Rockchip rk3188 listed devices:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rockchip
That's a terrible sign. The upgrade to that chip, the rk3288, scored a 9.6 FPS on the GFX above, so I'm guessing this one would fall around the 6-8 FPS range. So it doesn't even have a burly motor to power it through its minimal software optimization. Solid mention, but I think you're really better off sticking to the Google HTC Nexus 9, NVIDIA Shield, or Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact.

*Edit* Yeah, I just did a search, and here in the USA the lowest price I can find for a new unit with a reliable seller is going to be ~$160 after shipping. I found the 1GB version for $135. I just don't see the incentive in getting a nerfed second-rate tablet like this for that kind of money. This would have to be priced outrageously low before I'd see the point: like $69 or $79. It's just an ersatz product when you look at what else you can do with that money; for example, you could buy a dedicated handheld gaming console like the PS Vita bundled with Borderlands and an added 8GB card for $199, or the Nintendo 3DS XL for the same price. Their gaming libraries and setups are just light years beyond these techy modifications we're discussing to adapt phones/tablets to gaming ITT. This is still a budding infrastructure on Android even with hacks. Alternatively, in this budget range, there are superior current gen tablet like the Nexus 7 for $199 at Best Buy that are a better purchase. The whole point of these things is that they should be amazing tablets/phones which can do double duty secondarily as a gaming/emulation device. Niche products like that JXN that try to be a hybrid end up being a disappointment at both specializations.

Sony's "Demand Great" conference is going on right now and showcasing the new Xperia Z3V phone which is a exclusive to Verizon which is awesome since it used to be only T-Mobile. Hoping they announce the price/date for the new Z3 line of tablets. The phone will launch on the 23rd in the US, so hoping to be around the same release date.
