So what's wrong in government funding social programs and education? Why are conservatives/republicans soo pro social darwinism, even though they cling to Christianity the most vocally?
That education spending is a drop in the bucket, compared to how much we spend on wars and 'defense'. The Iraq war but itself cost around 1 - 3 trillion. A lot of military spending doesn't even get added to defense spending figures.

So when is defense spending enough? You speak like the critics of defense spending and supporters of education spending want to take a machete to the military budget, when that is not the argument. Why is $54 billion ok, why not $154 billion or $300 billion ? When is it ever going to be enough?

Who is arguing that military spending is bad? The argument is on how much and the amount that could instead be spent on education.

Yeah, we probably could. As with any gov't spending, it's a ballpark figure that comes in way higher than the projected amount. I literally can't name 1 thing that came in under budget. I don't think our military should cost what it does, but our federal budget is several trillion so military(which is the government's job) isn't the straw that broke the camel's back.
