I am just curious at to what is taking so long for the UFC to issue a statement on Conor's next opponent , pretty sure it will be at UFC 200 but the question remains who his opponent will actually be . I think there are a lot of choices available so except for Conor's pride I don't see the need for a rematch with Diaz .

These are the 3 matches I think make more sense , any of them are a better alternative to the rematch rumors. Truthfully Nate Diaz should be matched against another top 5 LW opponent .

Conor vs Jose Aldo 2- Despite the 13 second loss in the first match I believe that a rematch could be very exciting and as the former champ with 7 title defenses Jose deserves a rematch .

Conor vs Frankie Edgar : Frankie has done all he can to establish himself as a top contender and a match with Conor would no doubt be exciting , I don't buy the current bs floating around that Conor is running scared , I have seen Edgar fight and while he is a tough opponent he is not unbeatable so unless Conor wants to fight Aldo first I don't understand not making this match.

Conor vs RDA: I was disappointed when this fight was cancelled and would still like to see them fight , despite Conor losing to Nate Diaz { at 170 not 155 so it should have no bearing on the LW match } I still feel he should get the opportunity to make history and go for belt # 2 , not saying he would win but I would love to see someone try it .

just wait. Both parties have to agree, contracts need to be signed, etc. Stop being so damn impatient.

So Conor loses to the 5th ranked guy at Lightweight and somehow it makes sense for him to fight the champion at Lightweight who completely destroyed the guy who finished Conor?

Frankie Edgar is the only fight that makes sense, Aldo got creamed in 13 seconds he doesn't deserve shit.

He may need to rescue 197 so that is why no announcement on 200 yet

Conor is fighting Frankie in MSG probably in November.
The UFC feel Aldo has been given enough opportunities to fight McGregor so he will have to wait.
The UFC is going to make Diaz v McGregor 2 because with just 1 weeks marketing it was the biggest PPV in 5 years (possibly ever)
The hold up is waiting for the contracts to be signed and filed

McGregor vs Souwer is the only announcement I'd like to hear.

McGregor vs Ido Portal "Touch butt brothers become foes"

The hold up is Diaz negotiating for more money and rightly so.

I'd laugh if Nate demanded financial parity with Conor.

RDA and Conor would weigh in at 155 and fight around 170. Conor losing at 170 does have bearing on his ability to fight at both 155 and 170. First, this fight showed that he's going to have trouble with numerous fighters at 155. Second, he's too small to fight at 170. A true WW is going to come into the octagon at 185+.

I think the holdup is about the weight. Conor wants to fight at welterweight while Nate wants the fight at lightweight.

I'm sure McGregor isn't "running scared" however with one title on the line with his stated goal being to replicate his Cage Warriors achievement of two belts, there does seem to be a bit of hesitation on the UFC's part to make a title defense or rematch with the longtime champion lest they have to start from the bottom and lose the biggest money making opportunity of their existence. It's sad and pathetic really, because they're trying their darndest to create the path for McG rather than let him work his way up like other top guys.

They didn't fight at 155lbs. Conor was originally set to fight at 155, but then with less than 2 weeks, had to switch gears and instead of cutting weight, now had to gain weight. They fought at 170, not 155. Something that nate has done numerous times in the past. conor only has 3 fights at lw.

What the hell are you ty\alking about? No he didnt have to switch from cutting to gaining weight. He just didnt cut weight.

Conor has also had 6 total fights at lw including Nate.

I think the holdup is about the weight. Conor wants to fight at welterweight while Nate wants the fight at lightweight.

The holdup is Dana's trying to figure out a way to make it for the interim LW belt, and he's negotiating a contract with Gillooly to give RDA a knee cap special.
Conor really shouldnt have the leverage here to make the fight on his terms, despite his PPV numbers, he lost the first fight definitively.

McGregor vs Fedor. Oh wait, Fedor is too busy fighting 1 fight cans. sorry my mistake
