Do you think Conor could have won if he used his energy more efficiently? When I was watching the fight, just about after the first round I was immediately thinking about Conor's energy efficiency compared to Diaz, it became even more apparent to me as the fight went on. Think it was probably the number one factor in the fight, because the bigger guys like Nate take more punches to take out.

In a rematch Conor would use his energy more efficiently and topple Diaz. Right now though I think set him up in a fight with Overeem, let Conor get some momentum back against an opponent who won't take his KO punches.

this was a very good, subtle thread up until "Match him up with Overeem"

If energy and efficiency is code for size advantage, then yes.

He didn't so much gas, more beat up.And I honestly think he gave every punch too much effort due to his ego with his stupid predictions,he said 1st round and tried to achieve it.It didn't work out good. All Conor can take out of this is his luck that RDA got injured,If he was fit Conor would of been in serious trouble

MAYBE against 10 days notice Diaz
But full camp Diaz makes it look easy as hell

He said within the fourth. His prediction would have come true but he spent his energy rd 1. On his BEST night Conor can beat any fighter on the planet except maybe Jon Jones, Daniel Cormier and Werdum but that's mostly because of their size advantage. Jon also fights smaller men like Conor does but Jon has looked beatable. Conor looks invincible at his usual weight class.

That's fine let him store his energy let him fight conservative let him get taken to the ground and efficiently get subbed

LOL but last night he couldn't beat Nate Diaz with no fight camp.

Conor is very good, it's just that had he been on the Ultimate Fighter 5 season, he would have lost.

I know he said he should have been more efficient with his energy but what I think everyone saw was he needs to be more efficient with his striking defense.

Conor beat himself. Nate was getting destroyed badly with all kinds of shots. But Conor went all out trying to get the finish for his fans and Diaz was more energy efficient. Very obvious tbh and you can see the energy shift in round 2.

Plus Diaz has chin. A lot of the bigger men don't have as good of a chin and one of the punches Nate took would have slept them.

Dont forget Diaz had short training camp

Conor has no business in the 170lb weight class....he needs to be at 155 or 145, simple as that. Nate was too big for him and Nate is a durable fighter, terrible matchup for Conor who relies on his KO power.

No Conor got beat by Nate, a much more well rounded fighter than Conor. Maybe if Conor had more tools than that left hand he kept spamming, he could have tried a different game plan when he realized things weren't going his way.

Once again, Nate Diaz didn't have a fight camp. Thats a huge factor and I see Conor fans trying to ignore that one
