With Max stepping in, now this will eliminate one of the guys people have been asking for Conor to fight while simultaneously boosting the other. If Max were to win then he’s a two weight champ and has a major case for drawing Conor back to 145 or 155. If Khabib who’s already a major draw in Russia wins, he beats a current champ and becomes a bigger name among the casual here in the US.

Don’t get me wrong, I think if Conor fights again in the UFC it’ll be Nate first. But as other options, Khabib in Russia coming off a win over Max is big money, and Max with two belts has a good storyline and is a very winnable fight for him.
