Let's just go ahead and say it like it is, Nate had about three days to prepare for Conor with media obligations and what not and still finished him within ten minutes, Nate is going to maul Conor with a full camp but that's not the point....
The UFC after Brock Lesnar retired struggled to find it's next big PPV draw they had a good short term replacement in Chael Sonnen but with Chael's two losses to Anderson the allure was starting to die down then the UFC got a gift from the heavens when Ronda Rousey and Conor McGregor came along and finally the UFC had not one but two stars who could make them boat loads of money on PPV and what does the UFC do?
Destroy them, well destroy Conor, Holly Holm pretty much took care of Ronda but with Conor the UFC is setting himself and themselves up for failure when Conor loses to Nate again the casual audience isn't going to give a damn about him, the fans will see him for what he really is a guy who cuts an obscene amount of weight to fight guys much smaller than him and the red panty night and all of the perks that come with fighting Conor will be reduced greatly if even still there, hell we already saw Conor's bandwagon crash and everyone fled the scene with another loss what will Conor do? If he can still make weight his only hope is that Frankie succumbs and takes a dangerous fight with Aldo who already beat him that way Conor doesn't have to face that or the more likely option Conor simply can't make 145 anymore and will be forced to stay at 155 and fight guys his own size....which we know by the Nate fight he can't quite do like he thought he could. The smart option would be to have Conor go back to 145 and just admit he bit off a little much more than he could chew, try to regain some of his lost glory by fighting and beating Edgar but nope, they're setting him up to fail, again.
And after Ronda retires in the next year and Conor is stripped of his aura and the fans see past the false lies he's been built upon Zuffa will be right back where they were two years ago, desperately searching for their next star.
