With this recent talk of Floyd vs Conor is a boxing match most see it as a complete mismatch and hardly anyone would give Conor a chance. I think most legit boxing fans would laugh at this fight, I am sure they would watch but still no one would take it seriously considering Floyd could fight a GGG or Manny 2.

So why would Floyd take this fight?? To shut Conor up after he said he would KO him? To show how much superior boxers are in standup?? I dont think its any of those scenarios and it boils down to one thing. Floyd is going to enter the mma industry and start promoting mma fights. He said this after he retired many times that fighters are being treated fairly and he sees mma as a future or combat sports and a viable business. So what better way to break into the mma business then to fight their biggest star currently. If this fight happens I think its purely for the promotional aspect and to get Floyd into mma. And I think that if they do fight, Floyd will take it easy on Conor and actually allow it to be competitive. Floyd even at 50% should be able to win a clear decision but if he gives Conor a chance to have some moments it will really legitimize mma strikers and mma as a comabt sport and Floyd will be able to use that in promoting mma. I dont think Floyd would want to embarrass Conor, I think he would want to show quite the opposite but still win.

Now considering the contracts and the actual idea of a fight like this, it seems pretty farfetched and wont happen, seems like a publicity thing right now. But if we want to talk about why this fight would happen, I think its for that reason.

Floyd Sr talking about this...

Floyd won't dismiss the rumors because him and Haymon might be trying to get Conor to join the team. But that fight wouldn't get sanctioned

Part of me kinda hopes Floyd comes out of retirement and smashes Marciano's sacred record by beating a bum or a non boxer tho...

You do realize this fight will never happen right? Its just Conor marketing and trying to upset Dana and get him back into UFC 200..

BTW if Conor does take this fight he's a F*cking idiot... But I don't think he will, its just brilliant marketing tactics

Floyd is a shitty promoter, he's an excellent self-promoter, but a terrible promoter. He won't make the jump to MMA for a few years if ever.

They can only fight when UFC signs Mayweather or after Conor's contract with the UFC is done. So it will never happen.

The contract does not include Boxing, Grappling, Whatever... only mma bouts

This is starting to become like Silva and Roy Jones jr all over again.

So a smart person would turn down 10 million for an exhibition boxing match?

Depends on the money, for 10 million I guess he's smart, but if he think he can outbox Mayweather.........

I dont even have to know that boxing is a sport to know that a strong man can make another man sleep by hitting him in the head..

This is almost as ridiculous as when Ronda called out Floyd.

Have you ever watched a Mayweather fight? Have you ever seen Conor box?

Conor would not even be able to land a shot on Mayweather, because Mayweather is so much faster. This is such a ridiculous argument, that Conor McGregor could actually beat any top 20 boxer at 150lbs in a boxing match. Conor would not even live to see a decision, and Mayweather doesn't finish people.

Of course, thats why I said its very farfetched to consider the idea. The point is more why Floyd would do the fight and why they are even discussing it. It's really the only reason why this fight would happen, competition wise its a joke and a exhibition fight at best. Might be more or a publicity stunt than anything.

I just want to see McGregor go defend his title at 145. Or if he doesn't want to cut the weight then give up the belt and take a contender fight at 155 against someone not named Nate Diaz.

No way in the world. What is your source?

Eddie Alvarez had his UFC contract become public record pursuit to his litigation with Bellator. It is a fight contract and explicitly excludes boxing or any type of fighting.

Zuffa could put McTapsTwice in a boxing match as his promoter, he can't do it without them.

This is all besides the point, because 1) Zuffa wouldn't allow it 2) Mayweather is just taking free press

You do realize that record has been broken before right? Other fighters have gone 50 fights without a loss, when they lost later, it doesn't make the record "unbroken".

JCC was 87-0 when somebody finally got a draw against him. Which was Sweat Pee, and it was a robbery. But still, he blew past 50-0 long before that. The record is a joke.
