Whenever Conor defends his belt people will know that it is not the lineal belt, which now belongs to Nate Diaz. This Conor vs Nathaniel fight really disturbed the lineage of the FW crown, and makes HIS belt seem less legit. INB4 people say this fight was contested at welterweight, I know that's not how championship fights work, as it is built around the weight system. But Conor DID lose his belt's lineage. Just like Fedor lost his belt's lineage to Werdum or how BJ Penn lost hist his welterweight belt's lineage to Lyoto Machida in Japan.

The UFC has a new Paper Champion. Conor "The notorious" McGregor! Hail the New Paper Champ!!!

I wouldn't go that far. Not sure Diaz could cut down to 145 to fight him at that weight.

But he won't beat Diaz at 155 or any other weight above midget division.

"I know that's not how championship fights work" well if you do this thread is useless

The former 'mcgregor belt' is now the the 'stockton strap' and Nate the champ.

It's the lineage of the belt. A champion lost a fight in a non title fight. A champion is regarded as the best in the world, and loses his title when he is beaten. It's the Linean belt system. It's been around ever since UFC had rivalry. People would leave UFC for other orgs with their belt and then lose to fighters in other orgs, thus the Lineal belt continues with the victors always.

So Nate is the FW champ? He should show up to press conferences wearing a belt lol.

The fight was at 170 and had no title on the line. I have to inform you that conor is still featherweight champ.

he lost at WW man this thread is bs

lol, a brown belt with '11 join date making a dumb ass post like this? holy shit, Sherdog has reached a new low.

obvious troll thread is obvious.

Doesn't matter if the belt was on the line, he was the featherweight champion at the time and lost to another fighter. Conor himself is all about the oldschool fighting system were there is no weight division. He saw himself as the champion. He just lost that title to a no training camp straight outta cabo Diaz.

This is just dumb, you can't be the champion of a weight class you don't fight in. "Yeah I'm the 145 champ but have never actually made the weight" sounds pretty dumb. To be the champ you have to beat the champ in the weight which the belt is held, lineal or otherwise.

....... This is the dumbest shit I've read on sherdog in a long time. And I spend a lot of time in the war room, and when I used to come into the heavies, it was to argue with Emjay..... So think about that....

Yeah, his FW title is definitely not a paper title.

I'll use one of the McTapper fans favorite line, ice works wonders black angus, McPanickwrestler lost while he was champion, his lineal McGregor belt championship is gone.
Also , a 15 join date with almost 8 thousand messages? Isn't it too much too soon?

Conor still has fans I see. Nate slapped the belt from Conor. Nate fw champion.

wekest champion i've ever seen

loses to a guy who is not even in sherdog #10 rankings

So was GSP the 155 champ after he brutalized BJ into throwing in the towel after the third?
