hate to disappoint you .. not an attempt at poetic verse .. just telling it like it is and the words happened to fall into place is all.

What is the deal with Conor's gangster-rap persona anyway? He's Irish and I'm pretty sure was too young to be around for the peak of the hip-hop era in the US.

Did he just study Floyd Mayweather obsessively until he started copying his patterns of speech or something?
 
If that's the case, he still will have eight fights left on his contract that guarantees him multi-millions, so obviously Dana and Co. (i.e. the one's who matter) disagree completely.
They gambled heavily on Conor, and they seem to know a thing or two about business, in general, and this business in particular, so...
I don't think your theory holds water.

From my point of view Rousey lost a lot of popularity because she lost to Holly and went on a hiatus which lead to losing her aura. This was much due to the way UFC marketed her and all that talk about her beating same sized or bigger male fighters. Conor has been more in the news since then.

You underestimate the fan base. sure there are bandwagon jumpers here but the guy will always be a draw no matter what because he's got charisma and has a very exciting style.

I was talking mostly about mainstream media in my corner of the world. Rousey is probably a more well known name but I think her and Conor are still in their own league compared to the rest of the fighters.

Edit. I'm not sure if I understand these results correctly but it seems that they are pretty much on the same line when they are not fighting.
