Conor never should have left 145 pounds

Once IVs went away, I just don’t think he could make that cut well and perform at that weight. He was great at FW, at 155 some of those advantages disappear. Would never be the MMA GOAT though, that spot is already taken.
Fedor reigns supreme until the end of time imo

Don't like the guy, but he should have dropped back down to 145 after beating Alverez.

Yeah it’s a rough place to be.
I don’t think he can make 145.
At LW, I think he’s above average. He’d probably be a mainstay in the Top 10, but it’s not just Khabib that has his number. I think Ferguson beats him, Gaethje likely beats him, I’m not so sure that Poirier couldn’t do it at 155. Plus there are people outside the Top 5 that could give him trouble, like Oliveira.
At 170, Conor’s in deep shit. He’d have a pretty bad night fighting any of the Top 15.
Outclassed Alvarez is already enough for me to considered him a top 5. I think he easily beat both GJ and Poirier and will have a competitive fight with Tony. Eddie is tough af (showed in both Poirier and GJ fights) and Conor has enough power and skill to destroy him like that proved that he is the best striker in the division, the only way to beat him is having great wrestling which only Khabib has, Tony can still win if he can take Conor down. Losing to Khabib is no shame.

Nah, his ability to perform would have dropped quick after a few more of those cuts with no IV. Conor is a natural lightweight. Moving up wasn't a choice, it was mandatory.

If conor stayed at 145, he would have been undefeated period. My timeline of what would have happened.

Defeats Aldo in rematch
Defeats holloway in rematch
Defeats ortega
Defeats volkan
Retires

But i feel as though his body can't handle 145. He looked like skeletor
Why is everyone forgetting Edgar just KO'd Mendes when Conor beat Aldo? Holloway and Volk would be very difficult fights for him.

Yeah and you can't have a long career when you cut that much weight.. As you hit 30 the body is not going to cooperate..

God, lower weight fighters in combat sports get the shaaaaft. They're always technically superior to divisions like HW and are exciting as hell, yet they often have to cut crazy amounts of weight like fighters in other weight classes AND they usually are shot by 32-34 anyways. Damn.

Yeah that is somewhat true. I am honestly not a fan of having this many classes

45 would be fine for me as the cut off. Even though I’m a big fan of Dominic Cruz..

Conor at 145 would’ve got blasted by Prime Max and Volk.

Shit I would bet against Conor vs those two at LW tbh

The cut was taking too much of a toll on his body
This is what everybody says when this topic comes up but it's not true. His coach even said in his book that the last 145 weight cut was one of the easiest he has had.

Personally I think it's just laziness, Conor hasn't been in the game for years now

I think Volk would be a big problem for him, just a bad matchup, he became the 1st Champ Champ which led to the Mayweather zoo, he made some amazing career moves.

Conor is appropriately sized 155er, although he definitely will be mangled by the top 155 and 170er.

no way. he made way more money going up. the reason he got the Floyd fight was because he was the double champ. not to mention the bigger names he got to fight at 155lbs. at 145lbs he already beat most of the best guys.

if he wanted a GSP/Aldo like career than yea, 145lb is the place for him but he never wanted that. he has even admitted he'd never defend the titles or be known for those things. he wanted to hit it fast and hard and get out. whether that's still his main objective, i don't know, but he's never acted like he wanted to be a long standing champion, he's even said the opposite.

Conor has a claim as one of the best fighters ever in three separate weight classes. That's huge for legacy.
I can give him credit for what he did at FW. Even a little bit at LW because of his impressive win over Eddie, but he’s not in the conversation as a great at WW. Even at LW he is only 1-1 in the UFC. Destroying the champ once, and getting destroyed himself once.

Delusion ^^^^^^^^^

He absolutely does not.
He is 1-1 at 155, and he’s only ever fought other 155ers at 170. His record there is 2-1, and arguably should be 1-2. He has an argument of being one of the best ever at featherweight. That’s it.
^^^^^Reality

They also get paid less:(

What makes people think Gaethje beats Conor? There isn’t anything that would support that claim. Conor is the superior striker, both have the same size and cardio. Gaethje got stopped by Eddie and Poirier, Conor KOed both of them. Justin’s best win is Cowboy and Conor finished him even faster. Style wise Justin is perfect for Conor as well.
I wouldn’t favour Tony against Conor either. They way Tony keeps his chin up, Conor would KO him in the first. I believe Top 3 LW right now are Khabib, Tony and Conor. It can become like BW a while ago, when Cruz> TJ, Cody> Cruz, TJ> Cody.
Khabib> Conor, Conor> Tony, Tony> Khabib
