I just finally finished my analysis of how Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz stylistic matchup. I mentioned which fights have historically given us insight as to what techniques and skills are most likely to be used according to both their habits.

There’s a lot of useful information in the analysis if you’re curious about a stylistic clash. Here’s a few short summaries of the piece.
• Reveals which fighters have given them troubles stylistically.
• Keys to exploiting habits
• Understanding the ranges against loner reach
• More on how Conor and Nate match up stylistically.

Cool.

So who do you think is going to win and how?

I'm saying Conor via TKO/KO.

Decent write up except the fact that Rory would destroy Conor.

Nice post! Keep up the good work

if we're talking styles, I would actually like to see Wonderboy's style clash with McGregors. But then again, there's always that debate about if he can even handle the welterweights.

I'm a huge fan of your work I hope you get a little more recognition down the road, will read and provide feedback in a bit.

Edit: Great stuff, liked it a lot. I was always wondering about Conor's habit to stay southpaw and whether you thought that was a disadvantage. I'm curious if you think there is any merit to Conor constantly bringing up Nate's lead knee, he brought it up in a recent interview also. Conor generally doesn't throw too many leg kicks I always think because he's fighting orthodox fighters, but against Nate do you think this strike would be easier?

If my life depended on it, I'd choose Conor based off what I mentioned about similarities with Rory in the analysis.
If I we're to bet, I wouldn't choose any. Nate is so dangerous on the ground, has that range, and there are so many unknowns about any new skills they bring in come fight day. Anything can happen in a fight and Nate could also take that win.

I prefer not to come on sherdog to share, but it's user like you I come back for to share with. Thanks for giving my work a chance my man.

There definitely could be a lot about Conor bringing up that knee. So many people took advantage of Nate's legs. Conor might do the same. He's generally kept to his word on a lot of things. Conor also talked about taking him down and strangling him. That actually surprised me. Who knows what he'll do.

You can still use kicks to kill the opponent's stance and open up their guard but it looks like Conor's preference of not kicking could be due to his habit of head hunting.

He probably wouldn't be able to hit the outer thigh for damage, but in any stance match up, he can kill Nate's stance if he's only looking to do that. If you kill the stance, you can drop their guard and move in with your punches. Nate mainly uses his boxing range. He gets so use to striking in that range that opponent's sometimes time leg kicks while he's punching. Since you can't block a kick with striking, it disrupts his technique.

kinda of like the way Aldo dirupts Florian's stance to invite punches.
