Sound isnt everything with kicks, in fact its the more silent ones that cause pain and damage. A loud kick or slapping sound comes as a result of the foot hitting the target, the shin is more quiet but deadly.

Yeah. He dont use that typical thai teep. Its more of a front snap kick. You will find those in some muay thai camps. but my guess is that he got that from training with that taekwondo club in dublin, or maybe also from Gunnar Nelson's karate background.

Its not that long ago that i said that its very rare that Conor's kick do any damage. But i also said that he have the right atitude to get better and better. And he does that. He still uses wild spinning kick wildly. But thats just a clever way to hide his straight left cross.

The bodywork against Mendes was a perfect strategy that he have trained well. it would work great against both a Mendes with no fight camp, and a Aldo with a injured body.

I really liked his to hit kick combo right before he knock out Mendes. A rear leg deep roundhouse (thai style) and straight into a rear leg push kick. That was very nice.

And Conor will get only better at kicking. I cant wait for Conor vs Aldo. Its a fight where both can kick without fear of a wrester taking them down.

Aldo can do that, since he's a far better grappler.

yeah, i mean it's not like aldo doesn't sport better td percentage than most of the elite wrestlers in the ufc or anything.

aldo is a bjj & luta livre black belt, he has a great double, and single pick to go along with exellent inside & outside trips. so no you'd be wrong (not to say dumb) to think that conor can kick freely without the fear of being taken down.

the superiority aldo would have on the ground over mcgregor makes it extremely likely that he'll use his grappling accumen in this fight, as does his proven history of grappling with strikers in the past.

and mcgregor's kicking game really isn't all that, he doesn't have very good pivoting nor does he cut angles when he throws his kicks, all the kicks to mendes body was landed with mendes essentially standing right in front of him.

so, the ability to strike freely here, and really let loose without the ''fear of a takedown'' is something only aldo will be enjoying here, and add to that it'll be the first time since the days of wec that he'll be facing someone as one-dimensional as conor is.
 
Im a big conor fan but most of his kicks are awful.

Telegraphed and he nearly falls with almost every kick that's not a front kick/snap kick.

Excellent post

It's clear that some people have not watched all of Aldo's fights. His take downs are explosive with perfect timing. He really does have the complete arsenal of tools.

I didn't like how easy it was for Chad to get Connor in a bad place so quick! Connor was in survival mode, it certainly wasn't a walk in the park.
 
Are you people actually serious talking about slow kicks or a lack of power? Isn't it extremely obvious he's putting almost no effort in them and just flowing and testing his accuracy? I understand the need some of you have to come across as witty or just to put people down to the best of your ability but stop embarrassing yourselves.
 
Still has an over committed spinning heel kick, learn how to control it bro. I learnt that in Karate a long time ago.
