As sad as this is to say.... It is the modern way of MMA.

It may be the smartest, in a sort of Machiavellian way at least, to actually keep stirring the pot with McGregor.

It'll lead to more media exposure and in turn added popularity.

Self promotion is one of the only reasons that a fighter with one win is seven years isn't just a blip in a MMA trivia list. He's getting TV deals and highly promoted fights.
