LOL The last one broke records because it was McGregors first fight coming off of a championship win that pushed him into mainstream spotlight, and he used his mouth to sell the hell out of it. not sure how he'll sell a rematch as a loser. Its quite obvious the rematch is only taking place because Conor asked for it. Stop acting like you have a wealth of booking a promoting experience and just acknowledge the preferential treatment.

People will tune in to see conor lose, as well as people tuning in to watch conor try to redeem himself. This will sell huge

I'm a huge McGregor fan, but I don't see how anyone can look at these threads and not come to the conclusion that the anti-McGregor crowd is incredibly immature. Like complete children.

I feel like this is a lose lose situation for the Irishman. If he wins, he goes 1-1 against a guy who already smoked him with a little over 1 week to prepare. If he loses, which is very likely, then he has 2 losses in a row to a guy who is not even a title contender at 155 at the moment. Since conor can't make weight at 145 easily, this is a bad move for his future. I think he might be going out on his sword if he loses this time. Maybe he's just in it for the money after all.

It has to be one of the dumbest, most nonsensical rematches in the promotion's history.

All Conor fights sell, the rematch was unnecessary.
They did sell b4 he lost. Now what will sell is the story of possible redemtion. There is no one in fw that will come close to the draw power of possible redemption.

and if he loses? youve just ruined your most marketable fighter since Liddel

Is this even official? Has McGregor or his team confirmed it?

Or is this just the UFC testing the waters?

UFC is lacking needle movers. We know this. I mean they don't have many options, specially timing wise and star power for UFC 200.

For now they will try their best to milk any fight that can sell. After the numbers it did and the situation they are in. This is fair. Money first specially with how the economy is.

most people i know don't want to see this fight again especially if Nate actually has time to train and bulk up a bit for WW which is where they are having it for some stupid reason

No one would deny that there is money to be made with a rematch, and yeah, I think Conor is cringeworthy on the mic, and he's not alone, but he really has the mentality that saves cards, which is pretty screwed up if you consider his position in mainstream media, but I agree I can see some likeness with how Chuck lidell would take fights even if they didn't make sense.

What i'm saying is that, Conor is an exciting, and active fighter, sure I have never been impressed with his rants/speeches, but that's mostly because his delivery is garbage, the material is good, but it could be a personal preference, for me. anyways he is a fun fighter, and I'm looking forward to a rematch between him and Max, not that I would favour Max, but just so we can "measure" Max´s growth.

Redemption my inner hairy ass it's obvious since the one sided beat down & tap the majority of fans would rather see Conor defend his belt for the 1st time rather than do a rematch to a guy who obviously whooped his ass because he tapped.

preferential treatment? So, allowing Conor to likely cause his own demise is preferential treatment?

Every person saying they wont watch is completely full of shit. Conor is doubling down and everyone loves a good poker game.

"One sided beat down"...? It's better to watch fights when you're sober, you'll have a clearer picture of how things went.

Just stop, Conor opens scare tissue on Nate and get a few taps in and one cheap oblique kick and a whole lot of swings , whiffs, and misses, as Diaz either rolled away from them or Conor's short reach bounced off Nate's shoulder or body. May I suggest you go watch again without the rose colored glasses on.
