This is the plain and simple fact. He tried to out box Diaz, but was always going for the KO. What did Carlos Condit say? You cant knock a Diaz out but you can out fight them.

After Connor got Diaz hurt he should have stuck to leg and head kicks and worked a few punches in to make Diaz hesitant. This is proven OVER AND OVER to be the Diaz brothers biggest weakness. RDA proved it against Nate and Silva proved it against Nick. And he did it for a few seconds one of the push kicks buckled the knee of Diaz, but immediately afterwards started looking for the KO again.

It wasn't Conor that got into the head of Diaz, Diaz got into Conor's.

No he lost because he fought a full size man and tapped before he tried to defend the submission.

Don't over analyse it man was a fun fight with a cool finish.

Props to both guys both went at it one went out on his shield.

That's funny. All he's got is his boxing. So the only bad strategy he had was choosing a boxer that loves a dog fight. Did you see Conor approaching this fight any different? He's over-confident and respects no opponent. He could've done nothing different with his pure stand-up approach to an MMA world.

yup, Conor played dumb. but let's also not forget his panic wrestling, ending on the bottom and then giving his back. very ugly second round for him

Dat panic wrestling is what did him in...

No he lost because he fought a full size man.

Why? I will never understand a haters mentality.

Conor beats someone you say that person was never good and is garbage.

Conor loses you say Nates brilliant Ground game and sheer physical toughness and nice boxing did not win it for him his extra couple inches of height and reach amd 1 pound won him the fight.

God you are sad.

Awesome fight by two awesome dudes.

Cheering all round.

yeah not learning jiu jitsu is a pretty bad strategy if you're gonna be a fighter, i guess. Good point ts.

Yes. He was headhunting a man who's known to absorb a lot of punishment. And at the same time he was gassing because that's obviously not his weight-class.

A loss is a loss. Yet 170 is way too much for Conor. He doesn't handle that weight gain well. Good or bad gameplan, he's not feeling comfortable in this division.

and the noodle thing, too. That wasn't the best strategic choice, was it?

Conor thought he was Anderson but with no movement. His counter was really nice and was able to find Nate chin a lot with those which is surprising. But he relied too much on it. At times he was using Nelson like punches to try to KO Diaz. He gassed and that's not a thing you want to do when you fight Diaz.

I think this fight proved that you can't brawl with a Diaz. Needs to use movement, hit him and not get hit. Conor is too cocky to do that at this point, maybe when he first come to UFC. Maybe now.

I don't know what he can really do much different. At the end of the day, he can't put away a guy that big. Beating 5'5 145 pound guys is one thing. Fighting a 6'0 170 pound guy who can walk through your punches and kicks is a whole nother ball game. At some point in a 5 round fight he's going to get over whelmed if he doesn't get a KO. Be the big fish in a small pond and stay fighting the 5'4 140 pound guys. Step into the tank with sharks you gonna get wobbled rear naked choked.

He lost because he has no business trying to fight at 170. He let his own ego go to his head and was humbled for it.

It's why I love Conor though...he could have controlled the fighter with oblique kicks but he is a fighter and he chose to fight.

Conor is no Condit. He did not have cardio for 5 rnds. No strategy would have made him superior to Nate. He's nothing without a size advantage, but he'll never have one again, because he is unlikely to make 145 ever again. And even if he does, he has Frankie waiting for him. lol. People are really underestimating the damage that this loss does to his options and his career.

On the gassing: If anything, he should have had a fuller tank than ever, considering he wouldn't need to cut any weight and was able to go into the fight full strength without any weakness that comes with cutting weight.

Dat panic wrestling is what did him in...
Did you watch the post fight interview. Are you not paying any attention? The wrestling had fucking nothing to do with the loss.

One-trick pony lost to a better fighter. Nothing new here really.
