Trying to wrap my head around why he would turn down a multi million dollar fight because of not wanting to do promos, now I know. If he were to come out and go do these tours and presser, the only questions he be answering are questions about his last fight, which knowing conor smart ass remark, he would not have non and feel super uncomfortable being there. So instead, with all this going on, retiring, being pulled for ufc 200, ufc relationship, you best believe there probably wouldn't be a single question about his performance in the last fight, there'd be too many other things to talk about once his next fight gets announce. Conor can sell fights like no one else, but saving face and keeping you relevant is priceless. Kudos to you conor, kudos

LOL, you don't think he's going to be grilled about his last fight? He's going to get grilled like a McChicken sandwich.

The media dont give a flying fuck.

Next time he is infront of them he will get bombarded with questions of not only his crippling defeat at the hands of nate but also why he ran from nate.

All hes done is dig a deeper grave.

Yep fucking brilliant.

Although I completely agree with you I can't help but say McChickens are deep fried and not grilled at all.

He's only a genius if the gamble pays. I really don't know if it will but the owners of the UFC have made billions on being the house and beating the gamblers.

You really think this is going well for him?

Conor doesn't realize his stock has dropped enormously since the loss. He can't say he's the greatest anymore without people rolling their eyes.

He picked a fight that he can't win.

He has probably pushed his next fight over 2 mil buys. Thats pretty smart. As long as Nate is his dance partner, they will kill it.

It is pretty obvious why Conor really doesn't want to do all of the promoting this time... He doesn't want to go and say all this stuff about what he is going to do and then have to eat his words if he loses again..

He should have never agreed to fight Diaz again in the first place. I think he was pissed off, and now he realizes how bad it would be for him if he got stockton slapped again. Now he's trying to duck the fight by not showing up, and acting like it's the UFC's fault.

So you're the only person in the whole world who has worked out that as well as not wanting to travel and break his training . The other reason he doesn't want to complete his media obligations , is constantly being asked about the previous fight and having no reply to Diaz's "i whupped your ass " during any conflict ? Being forced to tell everybody where he went wrong last time , and what he is going to do differently this time etc . All with the possibility he is going to have to eat crow if he loses again , obviously this is going to be uncomfortable for him .

It doesn't make him a genius for pulling out of the fight and it certainly doesn't make you an Einstein for seemingly observing it but ultimately surmising it . ( Although i agree both of the above are the reasons he doesn't want to do the pressers)

He also didn't pull out of multi million dollar fight , he pulled out of a press tour . I genuinely believe he expected the UFC to say 'Ok Conor we will work round it , you just keep training and eating your Skyr in Iceland'

This is about GSP being ready to fight!

This is the perfect way to get out of his fight with Nate. Fake retire, then the UFC has to publicly punish him for trying to get out of promo work, "pull him" from UFC 200, then he is magically available for a fight with GSP in New York!

-he saves face by not facing(risking) Nate in rematch
-he does the absolute biggest fight with GSP coming off only 1 loss(his fight vs GSP doesn't happen if he loses to Nate again)
