At least not in the eyes of USADA. If they wanted to test him now and he would not be available, he'd be considered in violation of the rules.

If he wants to formally retire, he has to notify the UFC in writing, which he has not done yet. Only then does his obligation to testing end. If he then later decides to return, he is subject to four months of testing before he can enter competition again.

Apologies if this has been posted 300 times already, kinda hard to keep up these days.

The importance of that four month window is that the UFC can waive it. So, GSP could theoretically come back and not be subject to that window of testing

Just looked that up. It says "im exceptional circumstances", so what does that mean? Can the UFC define those?

I think it said where it would be manifestly unfair to the athlete which would be difficult to prove in this situation

It actually says "in exceptional circumstances or if it would be manifestly unfair". I am sure having someone like Conor on a huge card would be exceptional enough for the UFC.

At least in theory, it actually would be a way to cheat the system. I am not implying that Conor is doing this, but in theory it would be possible that way.

Yeah not sure people understand the relationship between UFC and USADA.

UFC can do whatever the hell they want.

It's voluntary.

They can just say screw USADA, GSP can fight. It'll look bad but they won't get in any kind of legal trouble.

They are not being forced by any athletic commission or government to do this.

Kinda wacky that they can just decide someone gets an exception.

Sorry for stating the obvious. Just sayin.

It is just a VERY expensive PR campaign. They want the world to know that the fighters in the UFC are the most clean in the world.

They should hit him now with a Carbon Isotope Ratio test. No chance the UFC allows that to happen though...

kinda hilarious to think what nate will say about all this when they finally have a press conference

What the hell is that?

People just want to talk about Conor and USADA in the same sentence. It doesn't make sense that Conor would be any more worried about USADA than had he not retired.

No one is connecting any dots. Probably because there aren't any to connect.

I doubt it's gonna be hilarious.

i take on board what yr saying, but personally i find nates awkwardness really compelling and quite often hilarious. theres an interview with him, brian stann, dom cruz and edgar, and what makes me laugh is that when nate starts a sentence, you have no clue how he's gonna finish it. it sounds like he's rambling incoherently and out of nowhere he just drops bombs
