Conor did not want to take *UFC debut fight* because "I had bin out of the gym 3 or 4 weeks".

Edit-

Back from work mission. Marine/commercial fishing industry, sporadic schedule. The way I understand it he thought the call was about a fight but since he had bin out of the gym 3 or 4 weeks he didn't want to answer the call. Can't blame him, who would want to take a fight on short notice.

Sorry about messin this one up.

I dont feel like watching the video. Would you care to explain?

"Bin"?

Literally talking about his first IFC fight. Stupid thread title.

You didn't include the only interesting thing he said: he was considering retiring until the UFC signed him.

I'm a bit skeptical as to how true that is though.

This is in reference to his UFC debut. I remember this. He was SBGi's boxing coach at the time, as he mentions, and wasn't showing up to teach the classes. His coach John kept "ringing" him for days and he wouldn't answer because he was questioning it all and was basically done with fighting since he hadn't gotten a call from the UFC and because of his friend's health. He didn't want to answer the phone because he figured it'd be John pestering him to get back to the gym and teach boxing classes, but instead, it was an offer to fight in the UFC to make his debut in Sweden. The rest is history.

He said he didn't want to answer the phone, not that he didn't want to take the fight (which he didn't know was being offered until after he answered).

Keep reaching.

Fixed the title for you, it was a bit misleading. This was about his debut fight, and not UFC 196.

Thanks for the details.

That makes sense then.

Wow you had to dig this video up with earth moving equipment it's so old

that was surprisingly candid and pretty cool to hear from Connor about the circumstances around his debut and shit. Really impressive to think about him going from broke and about to walk away from the sport to stepping the fuck up and getting to where he is now. Dude seems like a likeable guy under all the persona.

This video is inaccurate. Dana White didn't tell Joe Silva to sign Conor McGregor, Joe Silva did it on his own. Dana White started taking credit for it in 2014.

Did Dana's lip look droopy? Did he have a minor stroke?

Oh, you've ascended. Good on you mate!
Thank you kindly, but I'm just here to keep the peace or something. My first big test comes quickly, as this weekend...yeah. Lots of threads and crazy posts will happen one way or another.

He said the fight was in 9 weeks. That's not short notice.

Thanks. Didn't know this.

He wasn't referring to that fight if I understand it right, rather a fight his coach "might" have for him.
