Look, we have a transcendent figure in MMA right now that could POTENTIALLY break through and be one of the biggest sport's stars in the country/world and the biggest MMA fighter ever if he can do the things he says. He's already got the biggest public following in MMA and he just won the title. He's gotta beat Nate Diaz. If he goes down to 145 to defend, he's gonna look like a bitch to casuals who will say he can't move up like he says. That's a HUGE part of his appeal. I'm not just the FW champion, I'm more than that, you can't box me in --- that persona is what sells him. If he can't beat Nate Diaz, who I love and who I hope smokes him in the rematch, he can't have that persona and sell it effectively.

This is a huge fucking fight. Conor is bigger than the whole Featherweight division put together. (watch the video real quick) AND, AND -- watch the first fight again... yes, Conor gave up his back, but he was DONE. Like, the shots he landed on Nate were insane. The more I watch it, the more I like the fight and see what kind of battle it was. It wasn't just, "Nate turned it on and it was over," -- and I'm a huge Diaz fan and I've been loving the McGregor loss.

Conor did gas himself out going for the kill, but even once he was gassed, once Nate put him up against the fence with that flurry and knees, Conor came out throwing kill shots even though he was done. Nate doesn't go down, lands like 5 bombs and finishes it.

THAT SHIT WAS EPIC.

What the fuck are you guys complaining about? I'm 100% sure those shots would KO Frankie Edgar. This fight is bigger than any other fight besides Lawler/GSP -- it's probably way bigger than that with casuals... but GSP isn't coming back to get his ass kicked by Robbie. I want to see this rematch. The first fight was amazing. We get a diaz put on the mainstream track, an oldschool fighter gets paid, we get to see if someone can really start to have a transcendent career in MMA, etc. This is a great fight.

If UFC 200 is what it's advertised

Conor/Nate II
Robbie/Condit II
RDA/Alvarez

it does 2 million buys, IMO.

Idk.. Didn't really see anything overly impressive from Conor in the first fight to warrant a rematch.

Well said.

The rematch is going to be even bloodier. The fact that people are pretending they don't want to see a rematch are lying to themselves. The rematch has so many story lines you can build off . If Conor could promote this fight on 11 days to hit over 1.5 Million PPV buys , we haven't seen anything yet once we get both of these guys on a real press tour.

See, this is what is unbelievable... have you watched the fight again? CONOR LANDS BOMBS ON NATE. He backs him up, he fucking hit him hard as fuck. People act like Nate just dominated --- no, it was a fucking war that Nate survived and Conor didn't. At first I watched the fight with a heavy Diaz tilt cuz I'm such a Diaz fan, but I've watched it a lot more and respect Conor a lot more and see what he did in that fight a lot more.

Agreed.

With these dudes able to cut months of promos, jaw back and forth, get into scuffles and little melees here & there, this fight will sell huge.

The first fight was a nice little war.

I'm looking forward to the buildup and the fight, as well as the overall card.

Exactly dude, with build-up, and people will slowly remember how great the first fight was --- everyone that watched the first one will watch the 2nd one and I guarantee it attracts new viewers. This fight is the biggest fight the UFC. Before, the biggest fight was Rousey/Holm II, but now it's this.

and like... I get if it's too gimmicky and the UFC was just doing it for purely promotional shit and it had no fight value -- BUT THIS DOES HAVE REAL FIGHT VALUE AND MEANING. And the first fight was so good. What happened to the 'Just Bleed gods' people ?? This fight is the definition of that.

Shut up Dana no it isnt. Give Frankie his fucking shot.

He got beat up, bud. And he'll get beat up again.

Needs to stick with fighting manlets.

If people actually pay attention to what happens in that fight instead of gushing over Goldie and Rogan gargling from Conors nutsack, you notice Nate spent the entire first round literally throwing jabs trying to find his range and timing. The dude had a 3 day fight camp ffs. Once he found his timing and range (coincidentally when Goldie says "Conor is really doing a number on Diaz face"), he immediately starts pressuring, puts it on Conor and rocks him with a simple 1,2. Then Conor panic wrestles and gets tapped out.

If anyone think Economical Conor beats Full Camp Diaz I've got some bad news...

It's amazing to me how people buy into certain narratives. Conor is an amazing fighter but he got beat by a better, bigger fighter. This is a waste of a fight and placating to a guy whose ego already bit off more than he can chew while holding up a whole division in the process.

Hell yea. Lets do this as the main card...
Browne vs Velasquez
Aldo vs Edgar
Alvarez vs RDA
Lawler vs Condit 2
Diaz vs McGregor 2
You think people will bitch then? Tree million buys!

Conor vs. Frankie
RDA vs. Robbie vs. GSP

(INSERT OTHER FIGHTS)

Is much better. I dont have to hear Conor to know what happened in this fight. Maybe some of you do.

And I barely care for any of these fight:)

UFC 200 can't hold a match for a candle, let alone a candle to UFC 100.

What does that have to do with anything I said? What warrants the rematch? What did he do? If you take out the controversial ending of Roger Bowling vs Abel Trujillo, that first round wouldn't have warranted a rematch and it was an absolute war. Did Shane get a rematch against Brock? There are a lot of examples where the fighters actually fight, gas out and don't get rematches.

What did Conor do that was so special? In my opinion nothing, he fought and he lost in the second round, not really rematch material. There was nothing controversial, he just lost to the better fighter. But it is what it is, not going to say I won't watch and I'm glad Diaz will get more money for an easy fight.

I'm both excited and meh about the fight.

Maybe in June I'll be more interested, but I'm still hungover from the last event.

That's because you have a weird fat guy fetish
