Meisha had that choke secured for a long time, Holly did her best to defend but it seemed she didn't quite know how to and went to sleep. I was surprised that Conor didn't try to hand fight at all, he tapped almost immediately without even attempting to defend. Is his pain threshold really that weak?

It was the more appealing option to him. Being knocked unconscious by Nate means far more people would lose interest in him, the aura would go and that means no more big paydays

Holm has heart and this is only her 11th fight, she'll be champ again by her 15th fight, 1 or 2 contenders while the UFC protect Miesha from Nunes so Rousey can get the belt back, then when Rousey reclaims the belt they'll make that big money fight.

He didn't even try to defend it, he would have looked much better if he tried to defend it and went to sleep. He tapped almost immediately without trying one defense which makes him look like a quitter.

They were two completely different scenarios. Defending submissions is easier when you're not on queer street.

It appears he did quit, chose to get submitted rather than TKO'd. Many fighters do that but your right, they do put up the token one or two seconds of resistance.
Conor just looked for it to end and wasn't thinking of how the public will view it. It seems to be his natural response to these situations.

A dangerous thing to show. The MMA world and all the fighters at 145-155 saw that you can't handle a choke and are a quitter. Tough times may be ahead for him.

LOL at comparing getting put in a RNC by a 135lb stripper vs a 6 ft tall man who has far superior BJJ.

I've never tapped from a choke because of "pain". When I tap to a choke it's more of a natural instinct to stop the suffocation/black out that you feel coming.

Yep. Even guys who we know for a fact were excellent grapplers have been finished when rocked or exhausted. Is normal.

Conor didn't lose this fight because of a grappling deficiency (although we all know he has work to do in this area), he lost because he decided to go to war in the pocket with someone named Diaz. Not smart. Even Condit, who we know is down for a good war most of the time, knew better than to try it with Nick.

Tate beats nunes.

It's not about pain. You don't even feel pain in that situation, it's a choke, not a joint lock. Holly had more to lose, she had her belt on the line.

Holly didn't get beaten senseless first she just had the choke slapped on

Conor was taking a real beating before Nate decided to look for the choke

She won't get the chance to, she's fighting Ronda next and she'll lose the belt in her first defence just like what happened when she became strikeforce champ.
She will beat rowdy. She is a smarter fighter now.
She sticks to a gameplan. 200lb woman gets rekt.

How will she beat Ronda? She doesn't have the advantage anywhere, it's not only styles make fights when Miesha fights Holly, it's the exact same thing between Ronda & Miesha. We've already seen this movie twice before.

She has the edge in striking and cardio. She moved a lot against Holly. Unlike holly ronda has no footwork and striking.

Connor gave up his chin. He was begging for a way out. Confidence is a big thing and there are two divisions full of guys who believe they can smoke Connor now. No traction in his trash talk anymore. When he tries it from now on people will dismiss him like they would a small child.

She doesn't have the edge in striking, they're both incompetent strikers but Rondas stood out more because she bullrushed, Ronda has more (T)KO wins in the UFC, they're both bad strikers but Ronda has punching power.

Miesha's striking definitely improved and Holly laid out the blueprint to beat Ronda.
Miesha's strengths played into Ronda strengths during their first 2 matches. If Miesha stopped trying to go for takedowns against Ronda which would be good for any other fighter, she would win in the standup. The problem is, Ronda uses Miesha's takedown momentum to Judo toss the crap out of her. Miesha's got a good chance this 3rd time against Ronda as long as Ronda stays with Edmond.
