So it's all about the W/L record, completely disregarding what actually happens in fights - got it. I'm glad the people who actually hold sway over rankings don't have such a limited view when taking stock of fighters capabilities.

Here's a sad fact for the Gus fans holding onto moral victories: nobody remembers losers. Nobody remembers people that tried their best and came up short. At best, such people are a semi-interesting footnote in the biographies of people who actually succeeded.

Gus lost both of his title fights. One to Jones and one to DC. But both fights were exciting title fights.
UFC can give GUS easier fights he can win without too much damage and it keeps him relevant. And GUS can just get up on the big stage again where he likes to be.

I think they have to match him like that. 2 failed title bids, and losses in 3 of his last 4. He's an elite talent for sure, but no need to rush him back in when there's already a lot of jockying for position going on at the top of the heap. Let him put some wins together, and get that confidence back as he sharpens his skills.
