Condit = Silva.

What weight do you think Anderson will be able to cut from for a 175 lbs fight?

This is the real issue for GSP. He would have to put on a lot of weight to match that advantage, then cut. An advantage he would need to pose his style of fight, on a bigger fighter.

Considering his trainer said he comes in the ring 198-200 for a 185 pound fight it would be pretty safe to say he would come in the ring 198 ish tops for the 175 lb catch weight. Even the most ardent GSP nut huggers must admit it wouldn't be a problem, (nor would it take a year of hardcore muscle building) for GSP to come in at at least 192 (since he's weighed that before at WW. So we have 192 minimum versus 198 or so tops for a 175 lb catch weight. 6-7 Freaking pound difference. Unless people on here still believe that Anderson miraculously comes in the ring for his MW fights at his supposed 225-230 "walk around" weight, and that even more ridiculously he will still fight at this 225 lb figure even while cutting to 175. So he will rehydrate 50 lbs after weighing in a 175 and have this massive weight advantage on GSP. Oh yea, people actually do believe that.

Congrats. This is by far the most retarded thread i've seen all year.

I'm surprised no one has pointed out that both Silva and Condit fought in the same Welterweight (175 lbs.) tournament (and thus weighed in the same) right before Silva went to the UFC.

Even weight wise, he's been in the low 200s according to one of his coaches and even around 195-197. So he wouldn't be too far from where larger Welterweights are.

Silvas size is massively overstated in these forums. Have a look back through his fights. He has often weighed in around 182 or 183 for MW fights. Massive MW's dont weigh in 3 pounds under weight. I recall Silva himself even toying with the idea of dropping to 170 for a title shot. Weather he still could or not only he would know. His freakish skills allow him to compete with LHW's not his bulk. Having said that I dont think GSP should fight him at anything other than 170. Why would anyone want to go and fight the most dominant fighter ever in a higher weight class ? No shame on GSP in my book.

They should take the fight at 175, that way both would end up being around 190 on fight night because GSP usually cuts 20+ pounds but has trouble getting over 190, Anderson doesn't like to cut too much water weight and usually gains around 15 pounds of water weight back for a MW fight.

I see so many complaining about Silva's size and using that as an argument for Georges to not face him. Here's something to think about:

- Condit and Silva are both 6'2.
- They both have a 76-77 inch reach.
- Both have the same bodytype.

Where's the difference? Age.. At Condit's age, Silva was fighting at WW. Now, at 37, it would be too much to ask him to cut all that weight. Another thing you should understand is that he likes his damn burgers alot, and that he isn't walking around at a ripped 220 lbs. Even at 205 he is somewhat flabby.

I'm a fan of both guys, but it's ridiculous to claim Silva has a considerable size advantage. If you count fat as better than muscle, well then Roy Nelson has an unfair advantage over his division. Just to let all you size-fanatics know.

Don't delude yourself. As you said, Anderson is somewhat flabby at 205. His lean body mass is very comparable to GSP's, and he COULD make 170.

anderson is a lot bigger than condit lol

I agree to Silva not being to big for GSP. But Condit is not the size of Silva at all.

Anderson embarrassed Bonnar by not even budging when he tried his hardest to take him down. Bonnar is a giant 205er, GTFO.

The stupidest post I've seen in a long long time!!!!

:icon_lol:

i underlined, highlighted, colored and bolded the part where your whole hypothesis fell apart.

dumb or troll. i actually hope you're just a troll. for your sake.

GSP, Silva and Jones all cut a lot of weight, like most other non-HW's. quit trying so hard to prove to yourself something stupid; you're just outdumbing yourself.

I don't know about GSP, but Silva and Jones don't cut a lot of weight.

Jones actually weighed 216 pounds 2 weeks before his fight with Shogun. Although he has put on mass, he still weights 220-230 pounds and can comfortably cut to 205.

Silva weighed 2-3 pounds under 185 a few times in the past and weighed in at a flabby 202 in a LHW bout. Even if he gained a few pounds to fight at MW, 20 pounds won't be "a lot of weight" to cut for a MW.

A huge frame, muscular upper body with lanky legs makes people look heavier than they actually are.

Silva's foot movement is much better.

If you think there is few physical difference between Silva and GSP then please tell me: how do you think GSP (at his walk around weight) would do against Bonnar or Griffin?

Yeah that's right, he'd get dwarfed, rag-dolled, thrown around and laughed at by both of them (big GSP fan talking here).

Silva humiliated both men. He never looked seriously out-weighted, he didn't look weaker or even that small compared to those LHW monsters.

Case closed.
