I have major respect for Carlos, but time has either passed him or he was never that good. He has struggled against almost any top fighter. The guy has a critical weakness in his takedown defense that will always be a problem, he use to get away with it because the level of BJJ was on average worse back in the day.

I don't see how he improves after all these years, I think Bellator is condit's next trip if he doesnt retire

Robbed against Robbie.

After that couldn't really be arsed, clearly fighting for money now.

Fucking judges.

If you can't get over a split decision then you shoudn't be in the UFC. A robbery is when someone clearly dominates a fight and loses, like as if Khabib lost a decision to Edson after the beating he gave him.

It's not that he was never very good. He was very nearly WW champ, a couple of times.

He's too shopworn now. Just lacks the tenacity he used to bring and still can't defend a takedown.

Struggled to get a good sprawl down, Twood might have done him in with that leg injury/time off

Condit is done 3 fights ago. You just realized this now?

Condit vs Platibum next.. loser leave the town.

He was always great, but with a massive hole in his game. I think he just lost his fire and confidence in himself. The Lawler fight was damn close and most believe he should have won the belt. The Maia fight he probably would have always lost, unfortunately. Magny, he just looked lackadaisical. Then Cowboy Oliveira, he actually looked good, something like the NBK of old, and then he fell into an upkick from hell.

That Oliveira fight really hurt, because I'm confident that Carlos would have won 9/10 times.

Been a fan since WEC... but his time has passed. Never got decent TDD. Hurts to see him still in there... skill set hasn't evolved.

Condit has been in the cage forever despite still being fairly young. He's been a pro since the beginning of the century and reached his prime over 10 years ago in WEC where he held the championship for a while. He gave GSP the toughest fight he's had during his impressive, dominant second title run (if we don't count Juicy Hendricks) and was robbed in his 2016 title fight against Robbie Lawler. It pains me everytime to see him go out there and perform like a shell of his former self, but it's not surprising that he's starting to deteriorate by now. That happens to everyone who has competed at the top level for such a long time. I think that decision loss against Lawler might have just been the final touch it needed to initiate the decline. Imagine being at that point in your career, you've been fighting for ages, you just made the performance of your lifetime to finally reclaim the throne and then you're being told that it wasn't enough - that can break your spirit to keep pushing. That's how you go from the guy that gave Rory MacDonald the buzzer beater of his life time, the guy that was crazy enough to throw hands with Dan Hardy, to the guy that loses a poor fight to Neil Magny and gets choked out by Cowboy Oliveira. It's tough but there's no shame to it. Legends like Chuck Liddell went through the same process. It doesn't take anything away from the success he once had, Condit is an all time great at Welterweight.

he was fighting well in his last fight until the upkick

It sucks, but it’s common. Most fighters hang on too long and go out with a similarly bad streak.

Okay firstly his loss to Robbie was extremely controvesial, as was his loss to Johny. 4 of his 7 losses were to UFC champions arguably all in their prime.

Instead of holding him to a GOAT standard by saying "he has struggled with almost every top fighter he has fought" and instead see it as "some of the greatest welterweights in the history of MMA has struggled with him"

Woodley
Lawler
Johnny
GSP
Maia

That's a tough schedule. Then add that he was doing great in the Oliviera fight before the finish and Magny was a stylistical nightmare for him.

He isn't what he used to be but he has had a tough schedule.

hes actually 2-8 if you count the Nick Diaz fight

He had a first rate career.
Very elite.

I feel sorry for people who can’t seem to understand this.

I think the knee injury and the close, hard fight with Robbie just did him in...can't seem to hit that same gear that he used to
