"I respect the champions and the top-ranked guys in the heavyweight division," Jones said. "I realize that me, at my current size, the odds would be majorly against me, so it would be about doing it right, doing it with a lot of passion, and having fun with the game. I'll do it right when that time comes, I'll give it my all, and I'll expect to be a winner."

"When I compete at heavyweight I plan on weighing like 240 and I really won't want to get much bigger than that." Jones said in the chat. "I think speed and agility would give me an advantage being smaller than those guys, so."

“It’d be a great thing because I’d bring a lot of speed against those bigger guys,” Jones said. “And my style is dynamic in a way I don’t think they’ve experienced. I don’t see any heavyweights throwing flying knees or spinning elbows. I’d be faster and a handful.”

So Jones took to Twitter to respond to a question about his willingness to step up and accept the fight. Ranked as arguably the best pound-for-pound fighter in the sport, Jones quickly responded that if the real heavyweight title was on the line, he's more than willing to do it.

“Nah, no,” Jones said matter-of-factly when asked about the potential matchup. “He looks good at heavyweight. He’s designed to be a heavyweight. He’s comfortable there. He naturally goes to heavyweight between every fight. That is his spot, and like I said, he makes a great heavyweight champion. Even before fighting me, he was on a tear at heavyweight. That’s his zone. I have no reason to challenge him at heavyweight, because for me it’s not personal."

“I don’t think it’s fair, really, because I’ve always been a light heavyweight. Despite who the champion’s been, I’ve never challenged anybody at heavyweight. And I feel like I’ll move up to heavyweight on my own terms, when I feel like the UFC’s playing ball with me contractually to entertain that. No one’s entertaining any idea of switching the contract for any superfights, so we’re just kinda stuck at this spot here, fighting at light heavyweight.”

“I figure if you’re going to make the gamble, you might as well go extremely big,” Jones said. “Go big or go home. A Brock Lesnar fight (is) extremely high risk and extremely high reward. I don’t really see myself versus anyone that could bring in the numbers me and Brock could bring in.”

Lol imagine he actually goes down to MW

Maybe he could have moved to HW and it would have been guaranteed.

It's just that USADA always gave Bones a hard time about it, that's all.

Gonna be epic on here if the day comes that Jon legit losses a fight

Imagine being so bothered by a complete stranger that you dedicate the time to put this thread together<Lmaoo>

Imagine being so bothered by a complete stranger that you dedicate the time to put this thread together<Lmaoo>

<6>
Imagine being bothered enough to comment on that "stranger".

And it only took me like five minutes to make this thread, that's hardly a big deal <Lmaoo>.

Picto is scared of many things and fighting in his natural weight class is near the top of the list.

I think Jones stayed at LHW for so long because, until recently, there haven't been many big money fights at heavyweight. I recall talk of him vs. Cain at some point, but Cain couldn't stay out of rehab long enough for that to come to life. His rivalry with DC, along with all the legal trouble, kept him at 205 for a few years. Now, since there are no big money fights at LHW, I think he'll actually go though with it.

I mean I like Jones but this whole thing about Jones trashing Izzy on social media expecting him to move up is total nonsense considering the data presented in the OP

Eh. If izzy and jones fight at "heavyweight " its the closest to a street fight among skilled fighters youre ever gonna get.

Both trained, not cutting weight, talking shit, and colliding.

Best part? Its just for blood. No titles.

"Im your huckleberry. Thats just my game."

I been saying for the past few years that he won't move up or that he'll wait for the current crop of HWs to get old if he does.

What's that saying again?

"Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me 57 times, call me an MMA fan."

I chuckle heartily at anyone who think Jones will move up.
