Comparing Izzy & Silva's MW runs, Izzy is currently ahead.

A "sitting duck" based on some few losses vs some of the all-time great LHWs and HWs - and all-time greats only - in a 20 year career.

Is Chris Weidman an all-time great MWm
Not fighting them in the first place doesnt make you greater.

When Rob beats the likes of Overeem, Couture or Jones maybe you will have a point.
Meanwhile he has lost twice to the man who failed to surpass the Jan Blachowick test, and arguably to 41 years old Romero at 185

He also completely out-classed Kelvin Gastelum. I know Vitor was a deflated sack of flesh when he fought Gastelum, but Kelvin ices him at any point in their careers. The TRT monster would stand a chance in the first round, for sure.

The original post you replied to on the matter said:

"If Rob fought this kind of competition regularly for this long he would have close to 10 losses by now and multiple losses by stoppage which would likely result in people questioning his heart too."

And here you are proving his point, needing to reference a fight in his 19th and 21th year after debuting in UFC prove yours...

Not sure if you dont get the point or you are just not honest with it

btw, Weidman is absolutely an all-time great MW and at his peak he is arguably the toughest stylistic match up for current champ Adesanya. More so than Whittaker

Gastelum is a better fighter than prime Vitor. Not sure what all your mental gymnastics are about.

It's a marathon, not a sprint.

But yeah, by that specific comparisson I would give the win to Izzy.

you're forgetting that Silva fought a man who is undefeated and undisputed twice and kept his belt just because his wife's steak was that good

Silva got the UFC title in his second UFC fight against Rich Franklin. Prime Rich Franklin is still better than anything Izzy has beaten yet except Whitaker, who has a case, but I feel would still lose to Franklin.

Didn't Silva beat the #1 p4p before coming to the UFC (for whatever p4p is worth)? Also at this point I'd say Silva was carrying an aura about him and it seems like Izzy is starting to lose hype due to his fights being lackluster recently

Lol I love Rich but I dont even know if he beats Vettori.

After losing to Vitor, Rumble went 9-1 in his next 10 and challenged for the LHW title with his only loss in those 10 fights coming to all time great prime DC. He was insanely good when he fought Vitor and dangerous af.
Except he missed weight and wasn't allowed to fully rehydrate before the fight, meaning he was nowhere near his best when he was in the cage.

Nobody gave Silva trouble until Chael. Massacres were the rule rather than the exception.

Adesanya has put himself in a position to lose on the scorecards three times in his MW run (Vettori 1, Romero, Whittaker 2)

Also, why do you have 9 Adesanya fights and only 5 Silva fights. 9 fights in at MW, Silva also had the Hendo, Irvin, Leites, and Maia wins.

Also, Anderson lost to Chonan in his prime, lost twice in PRIDE in a highlight reel manner. People just think for whatever reason Anderson suddenly hit his peak a year later in UFC, kinda convenient I guess.

Their record at the same point in their careers aren't even remotely comparable.
Anderson DID get better when he left Chute Boxe and joined Black House. His grappling improved ALOT.

They are very much similar in the fact that they are an equally sized wrestler away from losing at any given moment.

Their careers and success depend on a certain style and size of opponents.

A lot of you wont like this, but when comparing them at similar points of their career Izzy is clearly ahead.

This is NOT me saying Izzy is ahead of Silva overall. I'm saying Izzy's trajectory is well on it's way to surpassing him if he continues winning as he's currently ahead of where Silva was.

At age 32 Izzy is 23 fights into his pro MMA career, with a MW record of 22-0.
At age 32 Silva was 22 fights into his pro MMA career, with a MW record of 17-3.

At this stage Izzy has 4 UFC title defences (Romero, Costa, Vettori, Whittaker).
At this stage Silva had 3 UFC title defences (Lutter, Marquardt, Franklin).

If you compare their resumes at similar points of their career Izzy is clearly ahead.

Izzy:

Whittaker x2
Vettori x2
Romero
Brunson
Tavares
Costa
Gastelum

Silva:

Franklin x2
Marquardt
Lutter
Leben

Thoughts are that Izzy will not beat Silva's records and that the way he dealt with old, almost retired Silva suggests that prime Silva would have KO'd him.

But Izzy's a phenomenal fighter.

Perreira and Khamzat might turn out to be serious challengers in due time. MIGHT.
