I don't know if this is becoming a commonplace thing or not, but I have gone to 4 different interviews and been offered a completely different job than what I came there for in the first place. Usually it is a completely lateral move and therefore pointless. The last company, could have just been the lady was having a bad day, but she seemed genuinely upset that I turn down the position. I explained to her that it was about a $6,000 pay cut and worse hours, but she sounded like I hurt her feelings. I mean I have a job, it just isn't going anywhere. My pay is fine. I'm just bored with it. So it isn't like I need your job. I told them what I'd take and she said they couldn't do that. Great. Then no. Why waste my time though? I could have been doing anything at all and enjoyed myself quite a bit more than coming in 2 separate times for interviews for a job I don't want or else I would have applied for it.

I will say the job I'm at now has really gotten quite a bit simpler since I stopped doing all the little extra duties I used to do. After I got passed over for 5 separate positions I kind of just threw in the towel. There won't be any positions open for at least a few years and even then I don't see how having 15 or 16 years in the position is going to be any better than having ten or twelve years in. So it isn't really worth the effort anymore, it isn't as if I enjoyed any of that stuff anyway. Does warm the heart a little bit when they carbon copy me still on all the emails about the various things I was involved in. No I won't be attending that meeting but thank you.
