Why is common sense not common?

Just use a bit of common sense and you will see.

That is a reflection of you for the people you interact with.

How many of societies problems would be solved if people start using common sense?

I don't mean myself, but more like society.

Like in bad neighborhoods. They eat more fast food. They smoke more. They don't put an effort in school. They do more crime. Of course, their results gone be bad.

I'm thinking why do those people not use common sense.

The average person is really really stupid. I think for smarter people, it's easy to forget/underestimate how weak a "normal" person's brain is

Believing that people will act out on common sense in their lives its a completely lack of common sense on your own. Same as me believing that you will take this premise on common sense might be a lack of common sense on my part.

Yeah, but I'm trying to understand why a lot of people lack common sense.

I think society will be a lot better if most people were using common sense.

It seems that the worst performing groups in society need common sense the most.

Maybe they lack common sense because they don't think long term.

Like the obesity epidemic.

Just eat less, eat healthily and exercise more.

The debt epidemic.

Don't get in debt.

If you're in debt, pay it off as fast as possible.

I am not one to assume I always act in accordance with common sense because I know I've done things before that would suggest otherwise. It's called being humble.

A lack of common sense is due to more a lack of experience than a lack of intelligence

Yes, everybody makes mistakes.

But it seems that some people and some groups make structurally bad decisions.

Well they might think the same way as you.. but obviously on the other end of the spectrum ..

We overestimate humans.

We see technology, marvelous structures and boast about how smart we are, not keeping in mind that these are the peak of society's potential, not the norm.

Humans by and far are extremely emotional, we don't care about logic. Just think about a time you debated someone on something they were wrong about and they wouldn't budge due to pride.
