He’s popular because people love to jump on band wagons until they get derailed. If Islam beats him one more time and he loses his next fight after that, everyone will have forgotten about him.

what I don’t get is all the praise for him when he has a similar fighting style to Aljo who gets bashed by everyone. Charles brand backpacks are in while Aljo brand backpacks are out. At least Aljo won a title and defended it.

Also, i don't remember seing him doing any political maneuver during last Brazilian elections so yeah... Oliveira's career is incredible

1. Charles did win a title and defend it.
2. Sterling and Charles don’t fight the same way at all. Sterling is much more of a position over submission guy where Charles is almost never satisfied with just that he constantly takes risks to grab a neck or arm
3. I disagree with this but people think Sterling was “acting” and “taking the easy way out” against Yan
 
Still the UFC doesn't push him.. He's stood the test of time, has set a bunch of records, crazy finisher, only been the distance 4x in 44 fights, only been the distance once in his last 20 and that was because Tony absolutely refused to tap. Any real fan is a Charles fan.
 
Just bleed while being just so technical EVERYWHERE. plus he now speaks broken English.
 
Because a lot of people can relate to him. I'll always root for underdog who is humble & never forgets where he came from.
 
Seems like a genuine guy, and his fighting style... just absolute mayhem in there, but beautiful mayhem. Nothing but respect for Charles

because Charles doesnt hang on peoples' backs for an entire round to stall. he actively looks for submissions and chains them together. if he cant get a submission on the back he'll try to slowly advance somewhere else. his style is inherently more exciting than Aljo's. funny how you accuse Charlie fans of being on a bandwagon when i could easily accuse you of the same for being an Aljo fan
