Comic Book Discussion Thread V.15

The pages I saw online from the omnibus looked alright with the coloring, but it just seemed to kind of mute Simonson's awesome art a bit. I read his Thor run online last year with the original coloring I believe and it just looks so much better to me and I would love to own the trades that have the original coloring. But I'm having a bitch of a time figuring out if those Visionaries trades have the original coloring or not. I can't even find pictures online of the interior pages.

Do you have any decent comic shops around your way? Some recon might be needed. I was gonna collect the trades back when they came out 10-12 years ago but never got around to it. Found the Omnibus on amazon for around $70 and couldn't pass it up.

So I'm interested in collecting Walt Simonson's Thor, but the omnibus is out of my price range and there's also the fact I'm not a big fan of the modern coloring done for the omni and the recent trades that followed it. So my question for those knowledgable about this is which trades should I buy if I want the original coloring or at least not the coloring done for the new trades and omni? Would it be the Visionaries series?

I went with the remastered editions because my lcs had them and I bought them all at 50% off. I just finished the 3rd volume and it's good stuff. The new coloring doesn't bother me but I can see how it could put some people off.

I read America's Got Powers. It felt like a poor version of Rising Stars.

Not recommended.

So Spawn is getting redesigned and now he looks just like Venom with a cape and big japanese style sword, sucks balls IMO.

His costumes always been like venoms. This is nothing new

I can't belive no one here read Stray Bullets.

A lot of you guys would go crazy for that title.

he didnt have teeth in issue #1. Now this can has it.

lol so what he didnt have it in number one. His costumes always been like venoms. Like i said this is hardly new. Maybe the redesign is new but read spawn from the beginning and you would know this

No one is talking about his costume powers. the original poster said "redesign." Respect on dropping Spawn knowledge on this board though playa.

I remember collecting Spawn as a kid. Hell I was there for the image explosion and I still
Own all those #1s.

Have a fairly sized collection of Spawn and if I remember correctly this comic book always sucked. Always.

I for own loved savage dragon. Just a balls to wall fun comic that didn't take itself to seriously.

Dark Horse Comics has an awesome BPRD Mega-Bundle Sale going on.
Entire BPRD digital collection (#144 issues), valued at ~$500.00 for, $99.

lol I haven't been in a comic shop since I was a kid.

I don't think the new coloring is bad, I just think it's kinda wrong to put so much new coloring on a book from the 80s to make it look more modern. Especially when the artwork is from the king himself Walt Simonson. I can't wait until his Orion omnibus drops next month though. Gonna snatch that shit up fast. I mean just look at this, it's phenomenal:

Not that I know of. He showed up in Wonder Woman and he was in the New Gods arc in the Green Lantern books.

I bought the first of the 5 book collection they have on Amazon. Looks more modern but I've never seen the old ones so I can't be sure.

In the past week and a half I've read Planet Hulk, Secret Invasion and World War Hulk.

- As someone who doesn't read much Hulk it was weird seeing him as this great strategist and affluent leader. Pretty much Gladitor and The 10 Commandments if they fused and became a green monster. Has a 50 page guide book at the end breaking down everything about the planet and characters you could want.
- For Secret Invasion I was left wondering if the Skrull need a place to stay with the Empire falling apart and no aspirations of hurting the citizens of Earth then why not contact SWORD or the Avengers to try and figure things out before the fighting. This was answered after seeing what the Avengers did to them in the Savage Land, I wouldn't want to deal with those people either.
- Wasn't a fan of the art change from Planet Hulk to World War Hulk and the burial of Black Bolt. Sentry vs his doorway, the true battle of the book.
Knew you couldn't trust Miek, he started as a bug version of JarJar and had been a lunatic since he found out his hive was alive.

I read it years ago, and just picked it up again recently. Still as good as I remember.

I'm only through book one as the rest of the series is impossible to find for a good price in trade format.

But from what I read I'm hooked and I cannot wait to finally read the rest when available.

So so twisted.

Anyone read issue 31 of New Avengers yet.

70 comics and about 2 years worth of Hickmans Avengers stories to get to this point in time. We finally find who Rabum Alal is and how he/she is creating the incursions.

It's pretty crazy once it's revealed and throws the reader for a big loop. Def more explaining needs to be done before Battleworld starts.

I don't really follow comic books, and I read something today that truelly broke my heart. I know heros/villains come and go, but when I read today they killed off a cherished character from my childhood I was crushed.

Man, I grew up watching this show and movies, and playing the games over the years. Reading about this almost felt like I lost a childhood friend.
