Comedians that you just don't get why people think they are funny

If you're considering older comedians (Pryor, Carlin, etc), context is important. If you just look at their material from today's standpoint, they might come up lacking. This isn't necessarily because the material or delivery is bad, it's because you've probably seen it all before you got to see it from them. Comedians like Pryor, Robin Williams, etc were doing and saying things that had never been done on stage before.

Humor is subjective, and I'll never tell anyone that they're wrong in thinking something is funny or not. I'm just saying, keep the context in mind.

Chappelle in recent years. Well, maybe not immediately after post-return, but shortly after he became the guy again. In hindsight, I realize that his show was pretty bad -- I only thought otherwise because I was a child -- but his standup, Letterman and other appearances, were gold. One of his "jokes" on his new special was so bad that I cringed.

I like Theo Von's show, what little I have seen from it (I don't watch full episodes, only clips). The Rogan crew? Who rates them? Katt was right about something -- Joe is dragging six unfunny comedians around. And Matt Rife.

Bernie Mac - Nothing this dude said was funny. He just had a lot of charisma and knew how to play the crowd but his actual jokes? I went and watched his popular "I ain't scared of you" bit he did on def jam after so many people were saying how good it was and I didn't laugh once.

You lost me at this point

I still think Dave is hilarious. Actually I think his early stuff from before the show was overrated and I don't put him on a pedestal as some kind of genius philosopher guy that I can learn life lessons or morals from like some people do

Robin williams is another one I could have put. I don't find his standup or his movies funny. Carlin I actually do think is funny and I see a lot of genius in what he writes though I wouldn't put him in a list of personal favorite comedians. Also some old comedians they actually still make me laugh. Like I thought Don rickles was hilarious for example

Rogan, I like his podcast but I've never laughed at his standup. I saw him around a decade ago and the opener was funnier (Sam Tripoli). Most of the guys around Rogan I don't find funny.

Come to think of it I mostly just find black & hispanic comedians funny.
What Hispanic comedians do you find funny? I feel like some are funny but mostly they make jokes that nobody else really is gonna think is funny other than actual Hispanic people

Haven't watched his recent special in full, but the clips I have seen were below Brendan Shaub level.

And I disagree about his earlier work, obviously. Like, he had something to say, and was a prodigy of sorts, reveling in the formation of jokes. His Letterman, Stern and assorted appearances showed that he was a different level of comedian, and then his standup specials really cemented his status as a top comedian of the 2000's. Today, however, that is gone -- he is just a dud, at least in terms of comedy. Namedropping without substance, telling jokes that aren't even accountant level.

No Bert was funny. Success has kind of ruined him. He tells jokes about his family and is kinda wholesome in an odd way

His most recent special was terrible

Tom is Joe's least funny friend
There's a male comedian less funny than Schaub? That's almost impressive.

There are virtually no good stand up comedians. It's the most overrated profession in existence.
