Anyone here take cold showers? Like, very cold... hot water valve entirely (or almost entirely) blocked off.

I've been doing it about 2 months now.
The first day I only did cold water...but, you're left with this layer of soap on you that you just can't get off properly with very cold water.
So, every day after that I'll do a 20 second warm water rinse at the end... after I got the bulk of the soap and shampoo off with the cold water.

A couple of interesting things:
- electricity bill is down about $50 a month
- shower time has been cut down a bit too.
- helps with my morning asthma... which seems paradoxical because I'll kind of do those involuntary gasps that a person does when you're splashed with cold water.

Yeah, I only take cold showers. Been doing that for more than a year. During that time also tried some hot/cold showers, but I prefer completely cold tbh. I notice that I generally feel a lot better and more energetic during the entire day. Sometimes I take another cold shower before I go to bed. Helps me sleep.

During the summer the water doesn't get cold though, probably around 68°F/20°C. So the effects aren't as noticeable, but it's still beter than a warm shower IMO. Definitely a lot colder and more intense during the winter.

Never have trouble rinsing soap or shampoo off though.

You typed all that shit when all you had to do was say you're a serial killer.

I was forced to take a cold shower the other day when the hot water in my building went out. Worst experience in my life. No idea why anyone would do it voluntarily.

Pretty simple. Wakes me up in the morning, helps me sleep at night, gives me more energy, lifts my mood and I generally feel a lot better doing it.

Guess not everyone experiences those benefits.

Indeed. Well if it works for you. . .

What I experienced was extreme discomfort and anger. I got out and had to sit in front of the heater for 15 minutes just to recover.

Is it hard water? That might explain the soap not coming off. I take cold showers too. I get up for work at 4:30 am and i wet my hands first and slowly the rest lol. Once I'm past the discomfort it's awesome of course and the only way to go. Hot showers will make you feel sleepy.

I reserve that special kind of joy for really hot summer days, the perfect cool-down.
It's magnificent.

I always end with like 2 minutes of freezing cold water after a hot shower. It closes all your pores that heat expands and keeps dirt and the like to a minimum from getting clogged in your pores.

i end my showers cold - they aren't that warm to begin with but I like to end on a cold note.

I start everyday with a cold shower, it's the ultimate wake up.

The only negative is that it causes my already modest willy to look almost indescribably small.

Yea I remember our health teacher telling us to wash our face like this.

At night I take a very hot shower to help relax myself for the evening and then in the morning I take a cold shower to help wake me up

That does sound pretty miserable. Maybe if you slowly adjust to it, it might give you some benefits as well. IDK, could also be completely dependent on the individual.

I start warm and then end with a cold shower for the last 5 minutes.

The tricks if you ever have to take a cold shower (from what I've noticed)...

Let the initial impact of the water hit your chest. You get used to it much quicker.
Keep your hands in the cold water too long and then the shivering starts.

Oh... and let it flow down the booty crack. It's very pleasant.
