In my opinion, Covington definitely deserves another chance to capture the UFC Welterweight World Championship.

Masvidal already had 2 title shots. Thompson already had 2 title shots.

Burns already had his chance. Most probably, Burns will have another title shot soon (after Covington, obviously).

Till already had his chance. Furthermore, Till is currently having MMA fights in the Middleweight Division.

Who else is there? Luque is currently riding a 4-fight winning streak. I suppose that he could mix it up with Usman.

Edwards is currently riding a 9-fight winning streak. In my opinion, Edwards should've received a title shot a long time ago. However, it seems like Edwards wants to go to war against Masvidal.

All evidence suggests (to me at least) that Edwards was holding out for a title shot, Colby or Masvidal. He just didn't have any pull at the negotiation table. Especially after pulling out of his fight with Woodley last March.

So after getting no title shot and Colby and Masvidal wouldn't agree (for their own career advancement purposes), he agreed to fight Belal, Khamzat and Diaz. And his stock still never went up. He still had no pull at the negotiation table.

Or maybe he got some, because finally Masvidal is fighting him.

Look at the way Khabib and his team carefully picks match ups, they slowly build up, get a lot of experience at the lower levels when they're young, then start taking one or two fights a year against the right opponents once they start getting mid pro level, then peak in their late 20's/early 30's

Everyone in Boxing understand how this works, but people in MMA are clueless. It sucks because that's kind of what ruines Boxing, but as a fighter you have to be intelligent about the fights you take
