I'll laugh at the thought of him having to do what he's avoided for the past three years.. fighting a legitimate contender. Or is he planning on giving Lawler a rematch if he gets the belt?
Why would he fight contenders when he was getting a title shot? Everybody who saw the fight knows it was tainted after Usman faked a groin shot and got time off from the ref. Colby could have finished him. That's a fact.

Colby refused Edwards, Masvidal refused Colby and Edwards, Usman fought Masvidal twice, Edwards refused Burns. It’s all a big clusterfuck, of which Colby is only a small part.
Why's that dumb?
And through it all, I seem to be (well, I feel like I am) the only poster who consistently blames Dana and UFC for all this. Everyone else wants to blame an individual fighter for systemic problems.

What performance? The guy got his jaw broke, he got dropped multiple times and finished, and then he ran out of the arena crying like Ronda Rousey with his head covered in shame.
That performance deserves another title shot?

Imo neither is super impressive Woodley was damaged goods once Usman mentally broke him and took his belt away. Every performance since then is worse than the last (yes losing to a YouTube even by split decision is worse than losing to an actual top fighter like Luque)

In my opinion, Covington definitely deserves another chance to capture the UFC Welterweight World Championship.
Masvidal already had 2 title shots. Thompson already had 2 title shots.
Burns already had his chance. Most probably, Burns will have another title shot soon (after Covington, obviously).
Till already had his chance. Furthermore, Till is currently having MMA fights in the Middleweight Division.
Who else is there? Luque is currently riding a 4-fight winning streak. I suppose that he could mix it up with Usman.
Edwards is currently riding a 9-fight winning streak. In my opinion, Edwards should've received a title shot a long time ago. However, it seems like Edwards wants to go to war against Masvidal.

There is much debate whether champs who lost their belt should get immediate rematches. Now the rematch loving crew are taking it a step further: contenders also deserve rematches, because what? …they put up a fun fight before the power disparity caught up with them and they got brutally beat down and finished?
Getting another title shot after being finished like that used to require some sort of climb back to the top. For ex: GSP needed 5 fights before getting a second shot at Hughes. Now you beat Couldley Shouldley Woodley and you jump right back in ahead of Luque and Edwards. Utter nonsense..
