Is what Woodley keeps saying & many fans keep echoing. Looking back at his current run, the only real favor I see the UFC did for him was giving him Kim when Colby was unranked. But if we approach this in an unbias manner and ignore Colby's personality, his resume is absolutely worthy of a title fight:

- At the time of Colby's victory vs each of his last 3 opponents; Kim was ranked 7th, Maia was ranked 3rd, RDA was ranked 1st.

-9-1 ufc record including 6 in a row. His lone loss was the type of prospect loss that is expected. Conor, Anderson, many fighters beer caught early via sub vs average but dangerous fighters. Losses like Lando vs Teymur or Perry vs Griffin over the course of 15 mins are much more troubling.

If a fighter beats #7 #3 & #1 they are worthy of a title shot no matter their name.

Hoping this fight headlines ufc 228 in Houston. Both guys are more exciting than they get credit for & their styles make for good fight imo.

He just beat the #1 contender in a title eliminator.

It only matters if he lost and denied someone else the chance. He won and convincingly too

He beat Maia and RDA. He got in legit.

Before this post, I was like, "Yeah, welcome to the hype era". You're right though, those are two hugely impressive wins.

Colby is the kind of guy who gets punkd in the streets . If he was in the wrong neighborhood speaking like he does, he would get smacked up lol.

Werdum and usman already showed how scared he is backstage.

Yup, I don't like him but I can't deny him. He did the work.

he was 7-1. that's not talking yourself into a titleshot. why you say something in the title and something complete opposite in your thread?

Reading through this thread will show how many people just come in a respond to a title vs actually reading the post.

He kinda did talk himself into a title shot, 6 straight wins, last 4 decision and somehow boring style. But he talks some stupid crazy shit, and this is it, good on him :) .

It's more accurate to say Colby hugged his way into a title shot.

like most on here, not a big fan of his

but yes beating RDA and Maia gives you certain considerations

He earned a title shot with his fighting.

But he has the masses interested in his title fight with Tyquil b/c of his talking.

He certainly HAS talked himself into being noticed by a larger audience and the UFC.

But as stated in the OP and responses, he wins on top of it, and backs it up in the cage. Dudes wrestling is no joke.

Colby has shown that being smart about self-promotion pays off even when you are naturally not great at it.

But he did deserve the title shot by beating RDA before and during the fight.

The trash talked helped him get some notice... but the wins are the reason he just fought Dos Anjos. Just hoping that his fight vs Woodley isn't a dud... after the build up which should be entertaining.

I even think he deserved a title shot after beating Maia. RDA just solidifies it.

You are really stupid if you think Covington isn't worthy of a shot. Till can't make weight, Usman just beat Covington's and Woodley's leftovers; is now reportedly fighting Covington's most recent leftovers.
