Media Colby is making excuses already

Does anyone think the fights gonna go any different? I did not see anything new from Colby fighting the ghost of Woodley. While Usman has fought 3 times and shown improvement in each fight.
Great insight. I definitely wouldn't put any serious money on Colby, despite being a fan of his.

Usman literally cracked his chin. Like literally…

Kamaru is an exponentially better striker since getting with Trevor. How does anyone think this is going to go well for Colby? He better work up all the excuses he can beforehand and have a contingency plan
True. Hopefully that means that there will be more grappling this time around. Would be a shame if we get a fight with the two best WW grapplers and zero grappling total.

Still got Kamaru but it'll be interesting.

lol you call Usman a sneaky cheat for some made up bullshit from Colby, but you were dickriding Fury in the boxing forum even though he's an actual proven steroid cheater.

Pathetic hypocrite.

i think the keyword here is sneaky lol

Colby’s built-in excuse are the PED accusations he made about Usman. It’s kind of smart if you think about it. He has a convenient excuse if he loses and if he wins, it’s even more impressive that he beat the “King of EPO.”

Straight from the Trump playbook

Also, the first fight was basically only the second time that Usman came into a fight looking to strike in his UFC career. The only other time was against Moraes, who's a much lower level fighter.

The fact that Colby got more credit for his performance than he did has always confused me. Nobody thought that Usman would win a striking battle going into that fight.

it's pretty cool that Colby gets credit for being an uber tough guy who fought toe to toe with an all time great with a broken jaw, but also he never really broke anything because that's fake news, and Usman had to cheat to beat him

Usman will go for the KO again without a doubt. I kept thinking for a while prior to these last few fights that if we ever saw them fight again, Usman would look for more takedowns.

But as of late, there’s no question Usman will be looking for the KO, he knows the powers there and Colby just didn’t do any damage close to what he could conjure in that fight.

Colby’s inactivity will be his downfall.

After the fight, Covington was taken to the hospital. A few hours later the UFC released a short update on his condition: “Following an addendum medical report completed regarding Colby Covington, it has been determined that he has suffered a non-displaced midline mandible fracture.”

Who the fuck is this dude lying to lol?

Colby's persona doesn't trigger me.. but his insistence that his jaw wasn't broken is just confusing!

Wasn't there a sound clip between rounds where he tells his corner his jaw is broken?!

There will be little grappling. Usman will decide where the fight takes place. He is more than good enough of a wrestler/grappler to keep Colby from taking him down and keeping him there. And he knows that taking Colby down and keeping him down would require considerable energy expenditure, and not really give him a lot of benefit.

Colby will try to keep the fight dirty boxing on the cage to try and wear Usman down. He has a high fight IQ there and actually gets the majority of his takedowns from there. But Usman was able to neutralize him there for the most part.

I think it goes more or less the same as last time. Usman will look more dominant, but probably not measurably so.

Going to be a steam rolling one way traffic for Usman.

hahaha yeah running out of the octagon after the fight is real tough:

He had a busted jaw. Probably hurt like fuck. I get not liking him
Forrest ran out of the cage after Silva but no one questions his heart.

His Jaw won’t be the same in the rematch though. I feel like it’s gonna break if they stand and bang.
I mean it was just a non displaced fracture from what I’ve read. I’ve had non displaced fractures and fully broken bones. Fractures hurt, but typically don’t even need treatment, just let it heal on its own. It’s when you get displacement that’s causes long term issues. I can’t see it being a problem going forward, not to mention Covington laid low for a while and let it heal right. He’s a cringe mfer but you can’t doubt his heart, still banging even after the damage he took.

Khabib told Usman this fight with Colby will be the toughest he's ever had. Those 2 know what's up. A lot more than the Colby haters.

The nut shot and eye reaction from Usman was definitely fake shit. Usman's a sneaky cheat for that shit. I watched that kick back closely and it was nowhere near his nuts. He just wanted some time from that hard ass gut kick.

Anyway I watched this and can't figure out what the excuses are... Anybody?

Absolutely and those are the type of moments that change a fight too. Adrenaline drops from stuff like that.

I’m not sure what TS is on about, I listened to the Interview in its entirety, I didn’t hear any excuses. If anything he was truthful about the bias and fake groin shot/eye pokes. and narrative that didn’t give him credit for a very close fight
He got a ton of credit. Its the only reason he’s getting a rematch after significant inactivity. And close fight or not, the dude got TKOd in the 5th. And that round wasn’t close. He was getting battered. So the rest of the fight may have been close but the end result was a lopsided 5th round culminating in a TKO. It’s pretty cut and dry

Did he or did he not get his jaw busted? According to Colby himself he said his jaw was busted I heard him in the corner say it that night. Then when people started ragging on his ass about getting his jaw busted and shut da f*k up and all of a sudden his jaw wasn't busted and that x-ray was a fake created by haters. Now his fanz are hailing him for his heart for fighting rounds with a busted jaw.

Either Colby says yeah my jaw was busted but I fought through being the warrior I am. Or no my jaw wasn't busted and I just got beat up and finished by a better fighter either one or the other man....
I don't like that guy but I respect him. If that x-ray was in fact a fake, then I take back half of what I said

I think so, but Colby has to wrestle more and mix it up if he even wants to make the fight competitive. I don't think it'll be enough to beat Usman, but it's worth a shot. Usman needs to keep the plan the exact same. Keep it standing and stuff the TD in the event Colby tries to grab and drag him down. But Usman has the power and timing on the feet, he has no business even trying to offensively grapple Colby and that is the case even if Usman he has the better top control, which I think he does. I got Usman by decision or late TKO, probably a little earlier this time.
