Colby flops in poker after losing MMA

I started playing Texas 6max and HU. Some tournaments from time to time. Switched over to PLO in 2011, barely played NL since then. Now playing exclusively PLO 6max and HU.

I played poker until Summer 2021. The only reason I stopped is because pokerstars stopped offering Heads Up PLO Sit and Gos which is all I ever played. I used grind out profit every year. I played cash games for a while after but realised i didn't have an edge there so I quit. Still play very occasionally. Sometimes I'll make a small deposit on stars and play a few donkaments, but I never really win anything anymore.

He didn't actually show it. He had the Ronda-esque sunglasses and hat.

(He was just getting warmed up.)

Looks like Colby open jammed 35 bigs with QTs. Even with that blind structure 5k/10k/10k that's still pretty bad. That's not a good spot to make this type of move. Usually you make these moves when you're desperate around 7-12 bigs. Colby needs to ask himself what the fuck is going to call that open jam that doesn't at least have solid equity pre-flop. No worse hand is going to call, like Q9s.

Yeah, I'd argue that a recreational gambler would probably get a bigger thrill out of playing Omaha than Texas. It's all-round more action.

I think recreational gambler would struggle with knowing if they won the hand or not, even though PLO Hi is easy to learn.

I played semi professionally for like 10-15 years and quit due to gambling addiction (was winning player every year but rarely did better than 4-5 BB/100) which at 3/3 and 5/5 just isn't enough to make any real money. Tournaments slightly better but online getting money on/off was always super annoying as a US player.

Towards the end the shift to PLO among poker players was big, and really good cash players hated tournaments which i always preferred. Seems like with GTO being so popular and so much theory available online poker is just a mega grind for small money unless you already had it made. I imagine theory in omaha is much better understood nowadays then when I quit?? (2018ish)

Surprised ComfortablyNumb isn't in here on damage control.

According to Colby's Hendon Mob he actually has cashes going back to 2012 which I'm surprised about. Thought he was just some rich(ish) idiot who got into poker recently. He also cashed in the main event this summer
