Look at his record.
Din Thomas was fighting young fighters who are (or at least one time were) in the ATG discussion in LW while they were young.

Best example (there are others: BJ, Uno, ): He subbed Jens Pulver <6 months before the latter won the UFC belt at LW.

Name a single top young fighter (not one with 1,000,000 miles on them already) that Colby has fought in the UFC.
And I don't mean fighters who were already past their prime; or in retrospect were at the end of their peak competitive years due to mileage on their bodies.

FWIW, I believe that he has the capacity to hang with the younger guys; we just haven't seen him actually do it in the octagon.
