When I first read the thread title I thought main event. But then I thought no way will the UFC risk an entire ppv card if Chimaev misses weight, so 5 round co main would be sick. I'd favour Covington. Chimaev has to finish him inside 3 maximum or he's fucked. If he does.....wow.

Do Not Believe This Fake News Man...
<DontBelieve1>
Khamzat isnt north of 35 years old or has a high enough fight odometer, 30+ fights, that’s double disqualifies him from eligibility to face Covington. This would actually be the closest thing to an opponent in their prime that Covington ever faced, we all know Colby is a proponent of geriatric MMA. This matchup will never happen... well, unless Masvidal knocked a screw loose assaulting him

Colby simply looking to take a shortcut to another title fight, he thinks Khamzat will gas. Winnable fight for him.

Colby will use this fight as showcase evidence for how badly Jorge caused his chin to decline with his sucker punches.

Not the best source, I'll wait for something a little more official. Ill be surprised if Colby takes this fight. He's already turned it down at least once. After Khamzat beat Burns, Dana said Colby would be next. But that obviously didn't happen.
i think it might be due to legal case with masvidal

Why does ufc get to choose some co main events are 5 rounds? Why cant they do that all the time?

"If Khamzat puts a bigger focus on his gas tank during the camp"
Not only that but will Khamzat go all out trying to get Colby out in the first round? Will Colby be able to withstand the pressure or will Khamzat blast Colby on the chin or overwhelm him? If Colby makes it past the first round I would have him as a big favorite.

All fair statements.
We're going to see whether Khamzat's smart enough to hold back and dig to the body and attempt to land multiple hard shots as opposed to trying to take Colby's head off with one massive bomb.

I think that Khamzat is fast enough to time Colby's kicks.
I don't know if he's smart enough not to empty his gas tank in the first 5-10 minutes.

I've never seen fans so excited about a fighter's 'cardio' before...

5 rounds? Colby easily

Chimaev wins in 3 rounds. Id take Burns too over Colby in a 3 round match

Good fight but have zero interest in seeing Colby fight for the title again. The guy is ridiculously inactive and I wouldn't be surprised if he retires after one more payday

Bro this has been posted 10 times

And It says 5 rounds, not necessarily main event, but I guess it could be

The UFC isn’t giving Khamzat a matchup they fear before giving him a title shot. They’re probably very confident that he’s going to beat Colby. Dana and them aren’t wasting this hype before a title match.

If Colby takes this fight, which I’m not convinced he will, don’t be surprised if it’s his last fight in the UFC.

Besides losing close fights to Usman, Colby really hasn't done shit in the division. Most of his wins didn't age will or they are wins against guys at the tail end of their career. I think he's going to have a rude awakening with the current top 10 at WW. He seems content to pick easy matchups and fight once a year if he's given a chance.

Right. We have no clue how good he is. He might just stack up well against Usman because of style match up. He hasn’t done anything but beat old men and LWs.

That's what i'm curious to see. Can he fight intelligently or is it always pedal to the medal. The guy is a talent but now we need to see him against the top of the division. Enough with the Nate Diaz, Holland (not a bad fighter but a terrible matchup, especially with no camp) etc... stuff. The Burns fight was fun but I need more. Colby is a real test. I'd love to see the fight.
