Colby Covington on Weight Cutting (#Respect)

He'll fight a HW!?!?

Shoot if they pay me enough I'd fight a heavyweight.

I like Colby, he's good for MMA...

I'm waiting for same-day weigh-ins.

But I don't doubt that Colby doesn't cut a lot of weight, considering NCAA/NCJAA wrestling rules and practices with regards to weigh-ins and weight cutting/dehydration.

I do like that he doesn't cut much weight, i think he does the weight cut for mma perfect. He probably cuts 5-10lbs during camp and 10lbs during fight week, pretty easy & not going to deplete him.

I agree with what he said... about weight cutting. I've never had to cut weight in my life, never seen anyone do it either. But, from what I've seen on these behind the scenes clips put out of fighters cutting weight, that shit looks brutal, and to do it right before a 5 round battle, seems so stupid. I think maybe people start out cutting weight, thinking 'I got a 3 rounder, I can recover to go 3 rounds no big deal'... but the problem occurs when they move up in the rankings and begin getting those 5 round fights. I mean that's just a guess of mine.

I hope they do away with that shit altogether. I can't imagine the fighters benefit from it much, plus the fans get cheated out of seeing the fighters at 100%.

Hard to tell where fake Colby ends and real Colby begins, so I still don't like him.

Same opinion basically. He's not a Chael Sonnen level bad guy on the mic. It's actually really embarrassing and corny most of the time. If he played it a little more natural, didn't try to cork out the scripted and poorly delivered one-liners, he'd be better off. He's trying too hard. Being less of a character, yet still letting some of the character's traits shine through his own personality could do him a world of good, IMO.

How does one condition themselves for that? Does having someone lightly hit your body repeatedly (when training) actually help?

Doing this helps you get used to getting hit to the body. But it's not by light, but medium, then later, hard shots....and they're still causing damage, so you might as well spar hard to the body; this way you're getting in sparring experience for the same (or less) damage, with real blocking instead of just being a punching bag. Better way is to build a lot of muscles there as armor, ie. 300 situps per training session...both are ways are necessary though.

"there should be more durastic measures" Its drastic, not durastic. Hes such a tool
Also, TS. What about that video would make you like him? its the same old shithead.

That's an up for him. The weight cutting crisis is upon us!

Colby is slowly getting respect he deserves.

Look at the size difference.

Colby is a smaller man in every fight, but however, he walk through all of them.

Colby doesnt look much heavier than 180-185.

Colby weighs about 80 kilos (176), no more or less.

I like this guy.

He fought like Gaejthe only smarter with a more diversified attack. And his shot talking is fun. I like how offensive he is it makes things interesting.

And I LOVE that he shits on the NFL & NBA champions. They are a bunch of rich entitled assholes. Basketball players are some of the biggest pussies in all of sports.

He is. He really is. I thought he was a clown.

But after beating two of the best Brazilians of all time under 185 this dude earned my respect.

This guy is going to be a hero after he dethrones Woodley

Yea he doesn't look like he cuts much weight for the division.
