Crime Cohen pleads guilty, says he lied

This kind of case just goes to show you how little presecutors memo's affect a sentencing. It's always up to the judge.

But I'm still baffled how 9 charges amount to 5 years by guideline.
In Cohen's defense I think he was ratting to protect his wife. Feds threatened to go after her as well because he exposed her to his dealings in some way. I kinda get it, but just goes to show how vicious prosecutors can be.

He's probably already rich anyway. He was a veteran high profile lawyer who worked for billionaires lol.

Hes probably worth tens of millions.

He's rich. No question about. Money wasn't a concern for him like it wasn't for Manafort.

Poor ol' Flynn on the other hand....Military service really doesn't pay. He had to go hustle and get himself in trouble.

Yea fuck that piece of shit Cohen. Should have stood tall.

I don't think he had that option.
He taped Trump, so burned his bridges on that end. He was always looking to turn on him.
Then Feds went after his wife, or threatened to if he didnt start cooperating.

Hard place----Cohen----Rock

What do you think Cohen gave the FBI?

I guess people believe Trump would have pardoned Cohen on election night anyway.

Obvious guess is those talks about Moscow Trump tower, which relates to Special Counsel. But the NY office sounded like they were still pretty unhappy with him overall, so probably not whole much more. I'm sure they wanted to get more tax cases opened up etc...

Vicious?

Michael Cohen is a career scumbag criminal. Literally nobody outside Michael's family disagrees with that. The Southern District of NY is probably really pissed at him because he wouldn't flip on other serious criminals (IE, Mafia, Russian mob, etc...). Trump is not the only crook Cohen worked for and probably not nearly the most unsavory.

That's what Im assuming. He had nothing on Trump but they pinched him in a lie so they're trying to exploit the optics of it to make Trump look stinky.
there is ZERO chance they don't have corroborating evidence for everything Cohen told the special counsel regarding Trump. Zero. Cohen's testimony regarding Trump will be secondary to whatever hard evidence he provided OR what they already had.

Whoooooo!
I'm glad that sleaze didnt get out of paying his due. Manafort next please.

Well, I feel when government threatens the family if person 1 don't do XYZ to be a bit out of mob playbook. Very effective obviously. If wife did break serious laws, charge but they use prosecutorial discretion as a blackmail tool it's not very seemly, IMO.

So does this mean Trump is going to jail, or going down in a blaze like Nixon?
It seems closer and closer to a violation of campaign finance law.

It also seems like it's headed in the direction of "rising to the level of impeachment", and can, even in the absence of criminality.
