Really proves how styles make fights. Cody did not clear out the division to fight Cruz, he leapfrogged from #6 to the belt cause he was popular, and happened to have the right style and performance of his life that night, and almost hasn’t beaten anyone since.

It’s a perfect example of how theres a certain style that could beat anyone in MMA, but it doesn’t mean the guy with that style is an elite world beater. There’s someone in the top 15-30 ranks who could’ve beat Khabib or Jones on a good night, but they’ll never get that chance.
