love it when I was kid, havent seen it in a long time... Stallone was the coolest persona alive when I was young

Cobra is a great 80's action movie. Tons of style, lean on meaningful dialogue and that isn't necessarily a bad thing. It was interesting how the bad guys were sort of anarcho-sadists and how that is reflective of societal decay - and that the appropriate cure can be a badass cop who slurs half the time.

Are there any sweet quotes right before someone gets fucked up?

Like "surfs up" before someone gets killed with a surfboard.

I remember it being called a "sleeper" at the time because it was ignored amongst his other big roles (rocky/rambo) but I watched it recently and it's garbage. Probably the worst Stallone film I've ever seen.

Id like to see the original version because this one was chopped to pieces for the reasons I mentioned earlier in this thread.

a longer version of garbage would still be garbage. I guess it's where it deserves to be, semi-cult status. I think he was up for Beverly Hills Cop and apparently, this movie was some variation on that one. He and Eddie were buddy buddy for a bit in those years, they got Briggite put in Cop 2 and I think they planned on working together but they never have.

I think he actually had the part and left Beverly Hills Cop because he wanted it be more dark/violent as opposed to light hearted.

I’m not saying it would’ve been better if it was longer I’m saying the film is very disjointed and has obvious continuity errors due to the fact it had at least 31 minutes shaved off it. So yes if those are at least fixed it would’ve been better.

It was a role Brian Thompson was perfectly cast for and he made for an intimidating villain, but he ends up feeling kind of wasted.

I have mentioned before but Brian Thompson gets skewered chest through the back by Arnold in 1984 and then back through the chest by Stallone in 1986.

Guy couldn't catch a break.

I watched Cobra a few days ago and it inspired me to go on a Brian Thompson film festival including Rage and Honor, Hired to Kill and his sole directorial effort The Extendables.

Heh...if you want a few that are actually decent I suggest Alien Nation, Lionheart...and I guess Dragonheart and Miracle Mile are okay.

Had some good characters in both Star Trek TNG and The X Files.

They really should have made a movie with Brian, Robert Z'Dar, Richard Kiel and the big dude from Superman 2 when they had the chance.

An underrated classic and one of my fave non Rocky/Rambo stallone movies.

I've seen those already, gotta fill in those Brian Thompson gaps...lol.

And yes I like that movie idea where they all meet each other while receiving treatment for their pituitary abnormalities.

It is the only non Michael Mann movie I can think of offhand, other than To Live and Die in LA, that has some of the same atmosphere as the original Miami Vice.
