Cliffs:

  • Coach Lopez spoke with Ciryl Gane on the plane back to France and gave him a 10 day respite before they would resume training.
  • Coach Lopez phoned contacts in Dagestan and Chechyna and two HW wrestlers with arms longer than Jon Jones are coming to MMA Factory to make Ciryl Gane eat, sleep, and breathe wrestling.
  • Coach Lopez plans for Ciryl Gane to almost exclusively train wrestling for the next three months.
  • Coach Lopez echoes Ciryl Gane in apologizing to his supporters for the loss but assures them of success in the future

It will be interesting to see if Curtis Blaydes still wants to fight Ciryl Gane next, since a loss to him would mean he has lost to the top three active fighters in the division.

I don't see a path to a title fight for Blaydes that doesn't go through Gane with his existing losses, unless Jon beats Francis (or Francis leaves without fighting again and Jon beats Gane/Stipe for the strap).

Lopes is not joking anymore , ciryl must work on that skill he’s lacking right now , but 3 months is way too short.
I think Gane could learn the basic fundamentals quite quickly, the man is a smart fighter...plus having the movement he has will only help him reach his goals quicker.

He'll be impossible to beat if he has any type of ground game

I thought they already had many Russian wrestlers there he was going on and on about before the fight.
I couldn’t imagine there would be many wrestlers with longer reach than jones. His arms are unusually long and that pool becomes smaller as you have to be a great wrestler.
tyson fury has just a half inch reach on jones.

If you want to be the best then you need to learn from the best.

Eh it's not wrestling. He had enough to take Francis down. He should have won if he played it safe in the guard and held. He needs to learn how to scramble to his feet or use his bjj.

French Edmund trying to make the best of Eric Nicksick advices.
Lopez will implement regular hugging at the gym to get Gane used to clinch wresting

He also needs to learn how to clinch fight. He tried it with Ngannou during the first round when he tried initiating the clinching/grappling with Ngannou, but Ngannou stopped that quick with a frame on his neck and then a knee to the face. He needs to also clinch fight and not just clinch wrestle. Wrestling/grappling isn't the only hole in his game that got exposed, it's also his inside fighting and clinch fighting.

Gane's clinch is very good, it was pretty equal vs Ngannou, and he totally dominated Lewis.
Ngannou's raw strength makes him impossible to take in the clinch, watch Overeem who is considered to have the best clinch game. He tried to clinch Ngannou and it was like hugging a tree.

Even before he tried the leg lock, he never really established top control. Ngannou quickly got a underhook, then full control of both arms and was setting up a sweep or a triangle. I don't think Gane could have stayed on top much longer anyway.

This dude sure does fucking love attention huh.

Lopez wants the spotlight many times more than Ciryl does. Wouldn't it be irritating if your coach is constantly running his mouth about you? Isn't that the manager's job?
