CM Punk WWE cardio

I think he should have some amateur fights before he signs with the UFC.

Cm punk is known for his cardio. He ran a marathon weighing 225. He has better cardio than most high level ufc fighters

Well Batista has terrible cardio for Pro Wrestling, and he blows up in MMA. Bobby Lashley had pretty awful cardio for pro wrestling, and his cardio was also awful in MMA though he improved it compared to what it used to be over time.

Punk's cardio has always been one of his strong suits as long as he is prepared well his cardio will at least be average.

are you guys seriously arguing his cardio will be fine because he's done wwe? and that he can't have an adrenaline dump because he's been in front of people before doing something completely different?

i have no doubt he's in pretty good shape but he hasn't fought. i'll wait to see.

I agree, totally different game. He may very well get a good start, but time will tell.

Cardio is probably the one area that will translate well from pro-wrestling to MMA, as mentioned he use to do 60+ minutes easily day in and day out. There are quite a few guys in the UFC that would probably have to be taken away in an ambulance after 60 minutes in the ring, can't even make three 5 minute rounds.

Cardio will go out the window once he gets punched or kicked.

Seriously, it's only a matter of time before Punk or any amateur stepping into the UFC takes a beating they might not walk away from.

I think that the cardio he's used to doing is completely different and although he may have good cardio in pro wrestling but I highly doubt that it really translates to MMA.

CM Punk's hour long matches were 8-10 years ago when he was a much younger man.
Also pro wrestling cardio is generally more comparable to pro football cardio in that there are short bursts of energy with significant rest period. I haven't really watch pro wrestling clostely in a while but even in high paced matches the wrestlers are not generally active for 2-3 mins in a row. One wrestler hits a impact move while the other one sells the move for a short time.

Punk is going to have to retrain his body to go for 5 minutes consecutively at a high level rather which he may not be equipped for.

Realistically I don't see him doing better than Lashley who actually was an amateur wrestler.

He ran the Boston marathon 3years ago....he has better cardio than 99.9 percent of ufc fighter s

I don't think we can compare WWE cardio to MMA cardio. CM could land a big shot and put away his opponent or the same could happen to him. MMA is a lot more grueling than performance art. He is a professional and is probably ramping up the mma training to be prepared for his first outing. I just hope he has to pay his dues like every other fighter. I wonder where they will place him on a fight card. Do think he will be co main first fight on a card with lesser known fighters? That would be weird, listening to Buffer introduce him with an mma record of 0 - 0 - 0 fighting in the co main. Prelims? Then you have a big name draw fighting on the undercard and I am sure they paying him a considerable amount so that scenario doesn't make sense. This is going to be interesting to see how it plays out.

When John cena was on Howard stern, he said he doesn't train cardio at all. Don't know.
