thats because it was in pride and he fought as dos caras jr. japan is used to seeing pro wrestlers fight in mma, it was their idea. if he had fought as alberto del rio no one in the crowd would have given a shit as he would just be some mexican guy.

so many people are spoiled on the chemical body look of alot of fighters.

This is what guys look like who train really hard, they have to eat a ton just to keep any weight on. I wouldn't put much stock in his physique, i'm more concerned with his technique and ability to protect himself in a fight.

He has been a big MMA fan for years. He left WWE & Lorenzo asked him if he had interest in 'trying' MMA.
Punk said he thought about doing a small fight just to see what it is like & Lorenzo said let him make Punk an offer first & had one condition - his first fight be on a UFC PPV.

Punk was ready to do it without all the hype, but Zuffa threw millions at him obviously to do it their way.

So if Punk loses, it ends pretty well ..... Him, Zuffa making millions
