Sup guys i just washed my judogi and it still looks pretty dirty. whenever i see the judo boys come in with their gi's, it always looks brand spanking new. do they use bleach or something?? how do they do it? i was thinking about bleach but i have japanese kanji characters on my gi and i think that would fade if i used bleach on it.

    tips?

Never bleach a gi. Bleaching will weaken the fibers and you will get holes in your gi. Wash your gi often. I use Tide Free. It has no perfume and no fabric softeners. Line dry to avoid shrinking. I use oxyclean on any bloodstains as soon as I get home. then its into the washer.
    good luck

Definitely don't use bleach to wash a gi (or any other clothes for that matter).

Bleach is caustic and breaks down the fibers of the clothing. It will cause anything to wear out and rip pretty quickly.

if you have a big washer then let it soak in detergent overnight and then run the wash in the morning.

just use oxi clean or any non-bleach whitener and add it to your normal wash.

Like everyone else don't use bleach

second if you want to get your gi really white
I can't remember the name of it but there is a white dye you can buy that you throw in the wash. That's what my judo buddiess use. I don't do gi very much so I just give it to my friends wife to wash prior to a competion.

Pretreat any stains with something like Shout, and use a good detergent and oxyclean in warm water to keep your gi's white. Don't use bleach, it'll kill your gi. I always hang dry mine. Mine have shrunk a little bit over time, but nothing unmanagable.
