Rumored Ciryl Gane plans to return in September and targets a fight with Sergei Pavlovich.

This is HW. The HW division has always been ruled by people who haven't fought in forever. Stipe is more deserving than any other candidate. No one else has his feats.

His feats are many years removed from now though. Pavlovich has been fighting in the current division. All of Miocic's best wins are out of the company!
I like Miocic, I'd absolutely root for him, I'm not trying to downplay his accomplishments or anything.
But I don't think you should get a title shot on history.

For what?
For defending the belt like a champion usually does.

It's a terrible fight for the UFC to make. If Gane wins, they'll derail Pavlovich with no benefit gained, as Gane will still be known as the guy with zero defence against wrestlers. Winning the fight does very little to change the perception of Gane and Gane winning it destroys the credibility of the division.

Pavlovich on the other hand has already built himself up as the #1 challenger with five consecutive 1st round KOs and proved himself against a wrestler too. The fight is simply large risk, little benefit in every way.

And this exactly what the UFC will do. They love protecting guys like Jones to the detriment of the overall product.

They derailed MW to protect Bisping... they're shelving Pav. Mark my words

Yes because that unknown happens to be on a 6 fight winning streak.

Against who though? Three of those matter. And his best win is Blaydes, who has been knocked out by fighters who are not elite like Derrick Lewis.

But he was not guaranteed a title shot. So how is he waiting for something that was never guaranteed?
It's not guaranteed because Jones is adamant that he only wants to fight Stipe which is why I'm saying that Jones is ducking Pav.

And that still makes him more eligible than Stipe who got knocked out in his last fight.

Doesn't matter. He lost his last fight.

It doesn’t matter to you. Whether or not it matters to the people who make these decisions remain to be seen. To me, if you’re waiting for a title shot before anyone has said you’re getting one— refusing to fight until they say you get one, that’s ducking.
