"Whatever one thinks about the merits of an issue before a court, there is no place for threats -- whether real or allegorical. Personal attacks on judges by any elected officials, including the President, are simply inappropriate. Such comments challenge the reputation of the third, co-equal branch of our government; the independence of the judiciary; and the personal safety of judicial officers. They are never acceptable."
 
I hope Schumer'd grandstanding emboldens the conservatives on the court to vote against socially left wing laws.

Im reaching yet it was enough for Justice Roberts to publicly comment on it. Is this real life? Even his liberal friends are telling him to apologize. The Justice all Democrats applauded for his job on the Impeachment trial no less.

Schumer isn't going to do shit. He's an old shrively fuck who would get arm-barred by my grand ma. He's your typical Democrat. Weak, insecure and talks a lot of shit as long as they are in a mob. This is all for show. It also is hilariously a bad look for him and a ton of Dems in general.
 
This is obviously one of those things that, in a healthy political dialogue, should be noted to be too much, the person who said it should be told that, and they should moderate what they say in the future - end of story. But that's not the game we're playing these days. It wasn't before Trump came in, but the dial has been turned up to 11 and now the standard mode of interpretation is the most or least charitable one available based on political affiliation. We have seen a constant stream of uncharitable interpretations, from the right and the left, any time any even remotely controversial statement is made.

Democrats are playing this game quite happily too, and Schumer himself has made plenty of censuring comments over statements that could be treated much more charitably. He's living by the sword, so he should die by it too. If you would happily drag someone else through the coals for saying Something like this, you'd better hold yourself to a higher standard. He hasn't, so...

Trump, as always, is the man in the glass house swinging the wrecking ball. We shouldn't let him set our standard for discourse. Vote him out in November.

Not too worked up over Schumer’s comment however I do notice all the progs who spend all day clutching the pearls over Trump’s less savory choices of language trying to sweep this one under the rug. It just illustrates that they don’t truly care about Trump’s conduct except to the extent that he’s on the other side and deploying g it against their own partisans. If it were a dem who was “undermining standards and norms” they’d be ridiculing anyone who called it out - which is exact what they did when Bill Clinton was the one doing it in his own era.

Fair enough. In a post about an climate of intense and questionable political dialogue, bringing up Trump, the current president of the United States who has in no way contributes to this climate, makes no sense at all. My bad.

This is the thing. I think a lot of Trump's comments are reprehensible and deserve condemnation. The problem is, Schumer's comment is garbage. If the people who want to condemn Trump's comments don't turn that ire on Schumer now, it's clear that it's not about good and bad political dialogue - it's purely partisan. The good-faith individuals on both side need to pony up and comment when something stinks on their side of the fence.
